I was first introduced to these LeadCheck swabs at my Iowa Lead-Safe Renovator class. They provide a reliable test in a simple, easy-to-use format that works well for small contractors like me.
It's nice to be able to show a customer on-site what the results of the test are, without waiting for a lengthy and expensive lab test to come back.
One small problem I did find was that after I "crush" the contents and shake it, I sometimes have to squeeze the tube a bit to get the mixture to flow out. The little plastic pieces from the vials seem to plug the hole a little.
Other than that, they work very nicely and are easy to just toss in the toolbox and go.

We became one of the first contractors to become a Certified Renovator here in San Antonio. This kit is the best we have found and very easy to use. Be sure to read about the family founders of this product.
Contractors and companies that do remodeling must have a person on staff that has taken the EPA-certified course.
After clean up is complete the Certified Renovator must verify by matching a cleaning cloth with an EPA verification card. If the cloth appears dirtier or darker than the card, the cleaning must be repeated.
A complete file of records on the project must be kept by the certified renovator for three years. These records include, but aren't limited to: verification of owner/occupant receipt of the "Renovate Right" pamphlet or attempt to inform, documentation of work practices, Certified Renovator certification, and proof of worker training.

This kit is really easy to use. I own an older home, and when paint peeled in a closet, I was really concerned about lead paint. Each cartridge takes seconds to use. I especially like the confirmation cards. When your check comes up negative, you use it on one of the cards, each of which has a small amount of lead, so you get a confirmation that the cartridge is still working.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Markinmt The ones that worked, worked great......
We ordered a kit with 8 lead tests in it. The 1st swab was dry. We checked the box, and of 8 tests, 3 were no good. I don't know if they were old??? The kit arrived in good shape, but almost 1/2 were bad. The swabs that worked, worked well, and were very easy to read. There is no doubt on the results---no color(no lead) or vivid pink/red (lead).

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by AnnNH Easy, quick, works just fine
Read the instructions while standing next to the car, pinched the tube in 2 places, squeezed to get the solution to the tip, scored the paint on the outside of the building, rubbed the tip on the scored area. Presto, bright red. I have lead paint.
No muss, no fuss, just worked.

We use this product periodically. It is quick and easy way to check for lead. However, we have run into dried out testing units on a number of occasions in the field. this is why the quality rating is average.

They seem to function to self test but showed nothing on bridge paint. whuich I had lab tested and found 5000pmm and 14700 ppm inthe same spots these were used on. I would really like my money back.
