I used to trust the buckets however it seems that the manufacturer is trying to cut corners s by reducing the amount or quality of plastic in them these buckets and their lids keep cracking on me spilling their contents everywhere. As you can imagine most of the fluids you store in buckets are not something you want spilling everywhere

This bucket, with the corresponding lid, is NOT air-tight and is designed to be ONE TIME use ONLY if the lid is put on as is. The lid has gaps molded-in the rim - to allow the rim to be torn in order to remove it after only one use. Indeed, the rim of this bucket is molded with inverted-U shape that, combined with the lid lip design, makes lid removal essentially impossible. I needed the lid to be removable and still fit again many times in the future. To achieve this, I both rounded, slightly, the outer inferior edge of the bucket rim, of minor help. The more effective modification was using a deburring tool, e.g. e.g. BrassCraft Deburring Tool; homedepot T090/100166541, on the lid. I made multiple passes around the inside lip of the lid in order to cut away about half of the internal, hidden sharp plastic lip, markedly shortening the molded, sharp, lock-on-lip of the lid. After this modification, the lid is removable, with some care and fits again well for many reuses.
