For threaded buckets only?

Does this work on non threaded buckets or do you need the rim/edge attachment that I see some of these lids coming with? Or does it come with that rim/edge attachment making this work with most any bucket?

Is this lid made from materials safe for food storage?

I am hoping to use the lids for storage of flour, sugar, rice & beans in 3 and 5 gallon food safe buckets.
Asked by: Longwinters
This product is completely food safe! O dint know where Otto saw the one that isnt, but it must be a knock off OR he doesn't have a clue. Just pick it up and read the full size label that is on the inside of the lid.

It's easy to test. Fill the bucket half-full of water and turn upside down...in a matter of seconds you'll see water begin to seep out. But even worse is when the bucket is left outside in the rain. In that case, water drips inside through the top. I contacted the manufacturer (Gamma2) but they don't even sell replacement o-rings. They refer you to a 3rd party called freckleface. And their o-rings are completely different but don't solve the leaking problem either. So if you need a bucket lid that is truly liquid and air proof you're better off using one of the hammer-on lids that Home Depot sells which cost far less than these.

In the store (paint department), the lid was hard to remove from the base after being spun on quickly, but once I snapped the base onto a bucket the lid spins on and off easily. Lid is great for dog food storage - no more bags falling over, dog doesn't chew through it, easy open and close, keeps food fresh, better organization of multiple dog foods. This would also be good for bird seed or anything that you want easy access to but don't want the bag falling over or absorbing moisture. Price seams high to me but it's so convenient that after buying one to test it, I'm getting more next time I'm at Home Depot.

Easy to put on, but after I screwed on the lid and tipped the bucket on its side it leaked immediately. For a product that's advertised as "airtight/leak proof", it falls way short. An unfortunate waste of $7.

Tighten the lid with wrench and it still leaks. Not impressed with the o ring, does not seem large enough. Also trying to use different gasket material to see if I can stop it from leaking. Would not recommend this product if you want to keep things totally dry or keep water in.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from it leaks I purchased 2 of these lids, which I used in my tree stands. After they were in the woods for 2 weeks, I opened them to check how they were working. One bucket was dry, the second bucket had 2 inches of water in it. Also, I wanted to get a couple to use in my garage, but they could not find them in the store
