These buckets work great, they will hold roughly 37 pounds of long grain white rice. I mainly am writing this review because I get tired of seeing people blame the product because they don't know how to use it. So I am going to tell you how in a few simple steps.
(1) Take the Gamma Lid center insert out.
(2) Put the Gamma Lid ring on bucket and press down hard with both hands spaced about 180 degrees apart. Gamma lid goes right on, if too weak, hammer with a rubber mallet. Fill with water and screw the lid on, verify it don't leak.
(3) Pour a few cups of bleach in bucket, about half way full with bleach and water and shake up good. Give it a few minutes then pour into next bucket, or pour down drain.
(4) Wash bucket with dish washing detergent and then dry in hot car for one day with the center ring off.
(5) Verify the bucket is dry and then you are ready to fill with food.
Each bucket will hold roughly 37 pounds of rice, but if you use O2 and Mylar Bags it's more like 35 pounds. The rings do fit people, but you need to take that insert out till after you got the ring on the bucket. It took me very little effort and all of about 2 seconds to properly seat that ring, it is easy as can be.
I also put my rice in the hot car all day to take as much moisture out of it as possible before putting it in the bucket. After you fill the bucket and seal it up, then label the contents complete with weight and expiration date. Since each pound of rice is five "1/2" cup servings at 300 calories, this bucket holds around 185 servings, or 55,500 calories in rice. A pound of body weight is 3,500 calories.
White long grain rice, wheat, and beans will all store about 30 years if stored properly. To store properly use this bucket with gamma lid, Mylar bag, and at least 2000cc of O2 absorbers in top of bag before sealing. Leave enough space to fold down the bag, and screw the lid down fully and tight.
Store in a cool dry place out of the light. You could even bury this if you wanted too.
I hope this helps someone, thumb up if it did please.
My only con is, I wish they had 7 gallon buckets instead of just 5 gallon food grade buckets. These are HDPE buckets, which is the best quality to store food in, look on bottom of the bucket for 3 arrows and the number 2 to verify HDPE.

If you need a bucket for food storage and are not going to use a mylar bag insert, then payng more for this "food grade" bucket is worth the extra money. But, If you use a mylar bag, then most any bucket will do to protect your contents from rodents.

While these are listed as "Food Storage" that should not be confused with "Food Grade".

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Good, strong buckets
These are great, just what I wanted for storing food longer term. They are very sturdy, big but not too big, and the lids seal really well. As with all of these type buckets, the outer ring breaks when you open them after sealing. You can still use the lid, and it does seal, but I would not trust it for long term use with oxygen packs etc. once the seal is broken; I would order extra lids if you plan to reuse them.

I'm using these for long term food storage of MREs. I have ten buckets with lock down lids to protect the packages. They stack nicely and don't take up much room. They are well constructed to keep bugs and mice out.

These are a very good value and Leaktite is a top of the line product. I priced food-grade buckets from several sources and Home Depot was by far the lowest and free delivery just sweetened the deal! Thanks!

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by BangorDawg Buckets Great but Lids don't fit
Bought these buckets and the associated lids to store some food product. The lids were the ones recommended by Home Depot for the buckets. They are too big and don't fit. I had to resort to using duct tape to hold the lids to the buckets. Too much trouble to return, and I don't know if they had lids that actually fit. Suggest you purchase these in person instead of online and test them out first. Hopefully, I just got a bad bunch and most of them will perform as required. Otherwise, HD should discontinue the lids until they get them fixed.
