Wiring Diagram

I sold my new Delta Unisaw which operated on 220v using this type plug. I just bought a Rigid R4512 table saw at HD to replace the Unisaw. I followed Rigid's instructions and changed the voltage on the new saw to 220. Now I need some help wiring this plug. I know the green wire is ground and connects to the green terminal, but which terminals do the black and white wires belong to??? Thanks! Gary

I installed mine on a 220v commercial cooler with the black wire on the "sideways terminal" and it worked great but it might be a good idea to check the wiring on the outlet just to be sure.

using the 220 adapter?

ONCE PLUGGED INTO THE WALL IS THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THIS ADAPTER FOR A REGULAR 110 PLUG? I HAVE A 15,000 BTU AC THAT I WANT TO PLUG INTO THE 220 BUT THE CORD ON THE AC IS SHAPED FOR A 110 OUTLET! WILL THIS ADAPTER WORK?

Something sounds very wrong if the plug is a110 volt with two blades going vertical if you look at it with the round prong down then it's not a 220 plug. it should be one vertical and one horizontal. I would advise you to either get an electrician or an inexpensive multi meter and follow the directions supplied with the meter as well as a you tube video ( just search 220 volt plug installation on you tube). don't proceed without full understanding which you will gain from following this insight. if you hook a 110 volt to 220 volts it will fry the machine.

The plug shown is not compatible with the recipticles

The plug has the odd blade in the opposite side as the receptacles odd input. You can not plug into that receptacle and have the ground terminal on the proper side to engage. What gives?
Asked by: thenar
You are using the wrong plug then. These plugs are made for 20amp 250 volt receptacles. The 6-20R receptacle looks a little different form the 6-20P plug. The receptacle has t shaped slot where the vertical prong of the plug goes in. The plug itself does not have a T shaped slot. This plug will not fit in a standard 120v receptacle nor will it fit in a 30amp 240v receptacle. The plugs are manufactured this way so people do not plug something into a receptacle that carries more or less voltage than what is needed. If you look at the receptacle itself. There should be small markings in the middle of it. It should say 20A 250V. If it has any other numbers then you are using the wrong plug.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what it is supposed to do. Works fine, easy to install. The wires inside are not "wrap around" but have a little plate that clamps down upon them and is secured with a machine screw, making it easy to attach the braided wires.

Though they are not called Legrand Pass & Seymour. In the store they are branded as Hubble. I always make my own extension cords. As you just get more for your money when you make your own and anyone who has ever purchased an extension cord knows. They are not cheap. Anyway purchased these plugs along with 25 feet of 12/3 SJOOW cable, to power my 3HP table saw. Used 10 feet of the cable to make the extension for my table saw and the other I used to make a 15 foot extension just to have around the shop. The plug is very good quality and very well thought out. The picture does not show the shroud that covers the leading end of the cable once you have it installed in the terminals. The shroud has a rubber grommet for the cable to go through that keeps out moisture and dust. The terminals are very use to get the wire snug into. What I liked most about this plug is that it is configure in such a way that when you tighten down the shroud with the 3 screws it has jaws that automatically are pressed in as you tighten the screws and grab the extension cord rendering it almost impossible to pull back out unless you remove the 3 screws.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great This is a well made cord cap. It went together well and should take a lot of abuse. It clamps down tight to the cord to prevent being pulled off.
