CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 3 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 3 out of 5 by looks awesome, but feels flimsy We installed 3 of these in our new kitchen and they look great! Used the brushed stainless covers, on a white glass tile backsplash. We get loads of compliments on them. For us, this outweighs the 2 drawbacks, which are: 1 - they are not as easy to install as claimed, and, 2 - they are very plastic feeling. In other words, they feel kinda cheaply made. For the price, I expected something a bit more solid feeling. October 3, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Fast and simple install ? Really ? Think long and hard before making this kind of a purchase. After all it's around $50 with the corresponding plate cover. Read my review carefully for those that consider themselves a DIY kind of person. Installation: This product indicates it's "simple to install". I've done lot's of electrical work and I have to say this is stretching the truth a bit (OK a lot) . Yes, it's true that it's "possible" to fit this device into the average electrical box assuming no other wires are feeding other receptacles (check before purchasing). In my case, I was lucky as the 14-2 terminated at the install location. Advice: A standard electrical box is "barely" large enough to fit this outlet. The back of the outlet has 2 screw type terminals (which is good). Their are two ground wires, one off the electrical plate itself and one off the outlet. Now forget about using a wire nut to secure these two wires to your ground lead. Instead either use a crimp-on or twist the wires and secure with heat shrink tubing. If you attempt to use a wire nut it will technically work but the outlet wont sit flush and true. Rather it will protrude slightly out (e.g. left or right) depending on where the wire nut rests. If you're electrical box is feeding other receptacles then I'd think otherwise - assuming this is a standard new work box. If you're wall is deep enough and your using an old work box (new install) then get one that's extended (deeper) as this will make the installation much easier. Again this assumes you have the luxury of installing a deep box (check before purchasing). Overall: The unit is nice and has a very pleasing look to it (flat black plate with magnesium pop-out). I don't think it's worth $50 but it location (above a granite top bar) with high end art work above it called for something really slick. If it wasn't for this fact I'd never install another one.. Great concept, plug works great and operates as expected. The fitment of the wall plate was a little loose (it snaps onto the metal cover). Again, $50 is a lot to ask consumers to pay for a product that requires the installer to make it fit. October 21, 2013
