Customer Questions & Answers

I have some of these that are broken. Can they be replaced without disturbing the tile?

Asked by: ed
this fits into a "hole" in the tile wall... each bracket has a bump out in the back, that bump out is fitted into a recess in the tile, so usually these are installed while the tile is being installed. they glue or mortar to the same surface that the tile is attached to... if you are going over existing tile, there needs to be a recess for it to set into, or you need to cut/chip out an area for that to work. it's doable, but it takes a little care.

DYI installation question

I'm not a tile guy so does "thinset installation" mean you just install this product on top of existing tile using thinset or do you have to have wallboard contact (ie remove tile) to install?
Asked by: Randerto
you do use thinset, or another strong adhesive, i personally usually use PL adhesive... BUT, this fits into a "hole" in the tile wall... not "on top" of existing tile. it does have an overlapping edge, but the base has to sit inside the tile... each bracket has a bump out in the back, that bump out is fitted into a recess in the tile, so usually these are installed while the tile is being installed. they glue or mortar to the same surface that the tile is attached to... if you are going over existing tile, there needs to be a recess for it to set into, or you need to cut/chip out an area for that to work. it's doable, but it takes a little care. see the answer to the first question hre for some more on this...

Is the towel bar a Matt finish?

Asked by: Richard
Definitely NOT a Matt finish but instead a satin-like finish with a tinge of shiny gloss

24 in. Towel Bar in White is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 40.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lenape has this 5-pack which includes this towel bar for less than $22 We installed a bunch of these Lenape ceramic built-in fixtures during our most recent basement bathroom renovation and could NOT be more pleased. You can purchase this individually or buy the Lenape 5-pack fixture collection which includes not only this towel bar but also 2 soap dishes, cup/toothbrush holder, and toilet roll dispenser. Home Depot has a excellent price point for this 5-pack fixture kit however not all stores carry it...we stumbled upon this on our 4th Home Depot store

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice, BUT BE AWARE OF INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS... If you like the look of ceramic, you'll love this. Very nice quality ceramic brackets and a matching white plastic bar that's strong enough not to bend over time. NOTE: This item is designed to be installed during a tile installation job. It is not designed to be added to a finished wall. The wall tile must be cut to fit around the brackets. Also, once installed, the bar is not removable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from EasyApplicationTowelBar This towel bar was easy to mount on the wall. After clearing the old mortar out of the area I used premix mortar to mount the bar holders. The towel bar was easy to cut to size using a miter saw. Make sure it is cut and ready to insert into the holes before mounting the second holder. The bar does not have spring loaded ends and must be inserted into the bar holders during the mounting process. I looks very nice and is solid solution for either a repair job or new construction. The Home Depot shipped my bar quickly and picking it up at the store is a very nice option.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Towel BAR is acrylic. It's hard to see in the Home Depot picture - the bar itself is not ceramic but is stripe-patterned acrylic and see-through. It will look worn faster than the ceramic brackets & looks cheap next to the ceramic. The Material Specifications Home Depot lists are not complete. For less than 10 dollars, I should have guessed it. Easy installation, right along w/ the other tiles using thinset. Nothing structurally wrong w/ it, so if you don't care how something looks it does successfully hold up towels, etc.
