Answer:
There is a wiring diagram and instructions printed on the INSIDE of the box it came in. green is ground, black is hot (this is what the breaker protects), and white is neutral (white goes to the larger of the 2 socet slits)

Answer:
Good day,
The line wire gets connected to the black screw terminal. The load wire gets connected to the brass screw terminal. The neutral wire gets connected to the silver screw terminal. The bare copper ground gets connected to the green screw terminal. The brass tab between the two black screw terminals must remain intact.

You can’t wire it without a ground legally; and this makes you liable if anyone gets hurt or a fire is caused by your work, it might even negate your insurance. So either exchange it for a ‘2 wire version’ (they are available) or bite the bullet and upgrade the service – for safety, I’d upgrade if I were you – I recently had to upgrade my service from 60 amp ‘ungrounded’ to 200 amp grounded and it only Read More

Answer:
Good day,
The only way to use the T5225 Switch/Outlet combination device with a 2-wire system is to have the switch control power going to the outlet. The hot wire gets connected to the brass screw terminal. The neutral wire gets connected to the silver screw terminal. The brass tab between the two black screws remains intact.

How do you actually wire this up so that the switch operates my ceiling fan and the outlet is its own deal not controled by the switch?

The diagram inside the box doesnt match the actual outlet layout. I only have one outlet in my bedroom right now and would like to have some more power! Looking at it from the back:
Top left corner says Common
The middle left is unlabeled
Bottom left is ground (I believe)
Top right (actually middle but on top) says A1
Below that is says N which i assume means neutral

What goes to the wires from the basement and which go to the ceiling light?! The video on the home depot page did not show the installation of this specific switch, only a regular, basic light switch.

Answer:
The hot wire would go to either of the common terminals (assuming the metal tab between them is still intact). This provides power to both the switch and outlet. The neutral wire goes to the silver terminal labeled, "N", and the switch leg would then wire to the A1 terminal.
It is highly recommended you contact an electrician if you're unsure of the installation.

Answer:
Typically black is hot and white is neutral, but that might not be the case for your home if the red is also a neutral wire. It seems like you may be confusing some of the terminology. Please contact an electrician or call Leviton Tech Support at 1-800-824-3005 for further assistance.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Short out! Be very careful while installing this combo switch outlet. The ground screw is right next to the hotline screw. I have never seen an outlet or switch with the grounds crew so close to that hotline. July 12, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Well worth the cost, saves extra work & expense! I used this to add an outlet in a bathroom where there was only a light switch & GFCI outlet wasn't required. You can normally use this anywhere that a switch exists & want to add an outlet. This combo switch outlet saved me the time & expense of removing the single gang box & replacing it with a 2 gang box, all I had to do was replace the switch & purchase a different cover plate. Instructions for those that need them are good & included. January 13, 2016
