I bought this because I have an older house with worn out plugs. When I plug anything in the old sockets the plugs practically fall out. I didn't completely know what to expect to find when I tried replacing them but it was super simple and took less than 3 minutes to replace each one after I figured out the first one. I have 3 very young children and I'm happy that these are tamper proof. They have a lot of little toys that could be stuck dangerously into the old plugs. These have some build in protection to help prevent that. One note, they don't come with wall covers so if you are replacing yours and change the color or style slightly don't forget to buy new covers as well. I'll be buying another set or two of these to do the rest of our house soon.

"TR" or tamper resistant marking on a receptacle indicates that the device is equipped with built in apparatus that prevents the entry of foreign objects, fingers, screwdrivers and the like, or even a broken plug into the slot openings of the receptacle. The design allows the entry of plugs only when both slots are simultaneously engaged and will not allow contact to energized parts unless both slots are filled. The ground opening (round hole), does not need to be utilized, allowing connection of 2 prong (ungrounded) or 3 prong (grounded) plugs to be connected.

I installed these recepticals close to 5 years ago as replacements of the builder grade ones. I am currently working on a complete remodel of the entire floor, wich means I need to replace the rest of the receptical and looking to replace these as well. The builder grade work grate but wrong color, but the ones I put in awhile back will not hold plugs in . It is the open area ones which get used mostly for sweeper and accasional charger but feel they should have lasted, the much older (closer to 20 year old ones) put in by builder has. I am not sure of other brands

Good product but pushin holes in the back only accept 14 guage not 12 guage (which is the standard for residential wiring)

The contractor pack is a good price for these tamper-proof receptacles. The receptacles are hard to plug items into and customers question whether there is a problem with them. It is a learning curve since these are now required for all new construction and people are not used to them yet.

These are basic tamper resistant duplex outlets. They will handle most appliance needs in your average house. Also, the ten pack did save a small amount of money over purchasing them individually which is always a good thing.
