Product Overview

Leviton’s IPV02/IPS02 Universal Vacancy and Occupancy Sensors combine state-of-the-art technology with new aesthetics to provide optimal management of lighting and motor loads and a choice of either Manual-ON (Vacancy Sensor) or Automatic-ON (Occupancy Sensor) switching. These energy-saving sensors are engineered to control current LED, CFL, Electronic and Magnetic Low-Voltage and incandescent loads and ensure that lights/motors will turn ON manually (vacancy) or automatically (occupancy) and turn OFF automatically when motion is no longer detected within the covered range. Designed to fit in a standard wallbox, both devices offer 180° Field of View and 900 sq. ft. of coverage.

Customer Questions & Answers

I want to put motion/occupancy sensor in basement stairway, can I just use one sensor switch instead of the 3-way switches that are there?

Asked by: Bonnie1
Yes this can be done by an electrician for you. Removal of one three way and install the senor at the other location. Care be taken as one the timer on the sensor runs out it will turn the lights off. If it can see you again or in the area it will keep the lights on or will reactivate them once you are in sight again.

Will this work in a bathroom that has a fan vent attached to it?

Asked by: Tan
Yes, with consideration of downstream circuit loading constraints. The occupancy switch takes the place of a regular 'flip' switch, however, the wiring is different: power needed for the sensor apart from the fixtures being controlled.

Wall plate

Does this Leviton wall switch come with a matching wall plate as the product brochure shows?
Asked by: jrSuffolk
It does not. It takes a standard wall rectangle wall plate.

180 Degree PIR-Incandescent-CFL-LED Occupancy Detector - Ivory is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 23.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great So far so good. I was able to install it myself. Works great. Shuts off when I'm not in the area.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Failed Application I got this sensor for our laundry room to replace an existing occupancy detector (a different Leviton model) that did not operate well because it flickered in a minor way when placed in the “auto” position (although it worked fine when in the manual "on" position). I was hoping that this sensor would resolve the problem of a flickering fluorescent light. Unfortunately, this occupancy detector did not function at all. The product specifications state that this sensor is for use with “fluorescent ballast loads,” but it completely failed to operate my fluorescent ballast lights. When I first installed this detector, the laundry room light stayed “on” -- it would not turn off; and even though I left the area vacant for 15 minutes, it remained “on.” So I pressed the push pad to manually turn the light to “off,” and it went off. However, I could no longer get it to turn “on” again, regardless of any action I took to push the manual pad, reset the breaker, recheck the wiring, etc. As the user manual instructed, I opened the setting door under the push pad, to try to find the setting adjustment knobs that are illustrated in the user manual. Crazy as it may sound, I was unable to find the setting knobs (a picture is attached). So I reinstalled the OLD occupancy detector and the lighting functions were restored (although the light continued to have a minor flicker as it had before). I can only conclude that the failure of this product could not be attributed to any other source but the product itself. This proved to be a frustrating waste of time -- some 30 minutes uninstalling the old sensor, installing the new sensor, uninstalling the new sensor, checking wiring and reinstalling the new sensor again, uninstalling the failed new sensor and reinstalling the old sensor unit again. Based upon my experience, I cannot recommend this sensor for fluorescent ballast applications. I do not know if it might work in other applications.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Motion Sensing Is Great, But Day Light Sensitivity is not effective Motion Sensing Capabilities are Excellent, but trying to adjust the the daylight sensitivity is impossible. The lights turn on during day time, so no matter how much try and adjust the sensitivity they will not turn on at night. Then at night you adjust the daylight sensitivity for the lights to turn on at night, and next day they will turn on during daylight hours no matter how carefully you try to adjust them. In a few words, it's excellent occupancy sensing for enclosed rooms (IE Laundry, garage with no windows, basement etc...) but no good if it is installed in a bed room or living room where sunlight is present. By the way, I bought 4 of these and they all behave the same.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not working as it should This vacancy light switch can only be set to auto on/off at any time of the day or night, or stay off all the time. I adjusted the light sensor during the day so it will turn off the light during daytime, but it wouldn't turn on at night. So, I adjusted the sensor during the night so it would turn on, but during the day it still turns on. I gave up. So now it's set to turn on/off at any lighting conditions..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to install and use I purchased this one to replace similar switch from same vendor, which does not support auto on. Installation is easy since it does not need ground line. But it is too sensitive, it will be triggered even if just passed the door of bathroom, so I use a piece of paper to cover the sensor, then it works well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as expected. I installed the 180 Degree PIR-Incandescent-CFL-LED Occupancy Detector in the bathroom in my basement. It works as I expected it to. The sensor can be adjusted to turn off from 30 seconds to 30 minutes. It is a simple replacement for any light switch that an automatic on-off switch is desired. The detector is designed for indoor use only. The detector can also be operated like a manual switch with the built in override.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reduce your energy use Installed these units when installing LED panels to replace current fluorescent lamps. Instant on when entering room with programmable turn off delay. The ability to manually turn off/on the related lamp is a plus.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Occupancy sensor switch works as expected, easy installation. Occupancy/motion detector switch works well and installation in a standard switch box is straightforward. The accompanying instructions are clear to follow. No problems with the three I purchased.
