Rated 2.0 out of 5 by 8 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The other reviewers lack experience, this is a quality product that installs easily. First and foremost, if you are a hobbyist DIYer and haven't done a whole lot of wiring, then you should probably hire out electrical jobs, especially those that are more than a basic outlet replacement. Some of the folks that are complaining about screws falling out within this unit very clearly lack understanding of how terminals work on some higher end components. In this case, it is actually preferable to use the slots as they are secured by the terminal and not a spring-loaded mechanism as is the case with some components. This makes wiring a breeze. If you don't use the slots, then make sure you allow the screw head to "drop" out of the side (with gravity) and wrap your wirings around the terminal. Unscrewing it will lead to exactly the situation that some are describing and this is NOT actually a defect. Secondly, a 4 way switch sits in between two 3 ways switches. It's important to grasp this concept. If you are replacing an existing 4 way, the wiring may not swap out exactly as the old switch was wired. Older 4 way switches had designations on their terminals like "Line 1" and "Line 2". Whereas you'll notice on this switch that two of the terminals are 'input' and two are 'output'. If the switch functions in unanticipated fashion after install, chances are you got your wiring wrong and the switch hasn't actually failed. After installation, it's important to test the functionality of the load with each of the switches in each position. It's possible that one position may make the switch appear to be "dead" or "always on" if wired incorrectly. That said, this switch works beautifully if you understand how to install it. Installation is a 5 minute affair with the screw-lock terminals. The switch itself feels like a quality unit and has a good action to it. Not much else to say other than that. August 3, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Junk, absolute junk Could not believe how bad this was made. If you used the plug in feature on the back it might actually work but no way you can put a #12 wire on the screw terminals. Usually on these plug in type switches you can back out the screws enough to force your wire on but not these. Any one that gives this more than one star must have stock in the company. This goes back tomorrow. I only give it one star because it's required November 10, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor Quality I ran into a similar issue as the other reviewer in that the screws failed. I had mine installed for about 2 years, pulled it out of the switch box as I had to do some work on other wiring in the box and one of the screws completely bound up. For $10, I expect that the screws would be more than a one time use. I'll have to try a supply house for a better quality switch. September 21, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Stay Away I had the exact same experience as the other reviewers. The screws fell out and would not go back in at all. I wasted over an hour in what should have been a five minute job. I would look for a different alternative for sure. November 5, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Failed miserably The switching mechanism failed right away. Should have listened to the other reviews. thought I was buying a quality name product. Will be returning it to the store. September 12, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Do Not Buy The 2 gold terminal screws will not loosen. the 2 black screws fall out if you try to loosen them. This will not work at all. Leviton Tech Support says somebody must have "tampered" with the switch. It's going back and I'm going to Lowes to see if they have a different model. Don't buy this switch. March 11, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 worst piece junk, don't throw your $$$ away poorly designed, takes too long to install, unless you want to use push in back of switch which a terrible idea... I bought 3 of these, 2 are going back, the other well its half in right now, after 2 an half hours of work, should have been a five min or less job. It actually took less time to run the wire by myself through the attic to light, an all 3 light switches... If i could have given this a lower rating i would have. I don't know, maybe good for garbage filler. February 8, 2012
