Customer Reviews

Rated 2.7 out of 5 by 3 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good product I needed to replace a 220 plug and I did not want to pay $75 for an electrician to step in the door. The instructions are very good as to how the cut and strip the wires. A couple diagrams as to how the wires are to look were very useful. Pay careful attention as to what side of the terminal the wire goes. Once you start putting the terminals in the plug with the wires, you will need to press the wires in to 'free' area. If you have anything wrong, the case will not close. The entire process takes 20-30 minutes (I was being very careful). I have been using the plug for a month with a ceramic kiln with no problems. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Cheap and priced accordingly I needed this Plug to make a large extension cord for my welder, air compressor, etc. It was priced lower than similar plugs on the internet, and now I know why. The clamps that connect to the wire are too large to use with anything less than 6AWG cable and since that cable is too stiff to bend, the various conductors must be stripped very precisely to lay into this plug correctly. You'll need to measure/cut/strip within 1/16" to get a good fit. The strain relief is intended for a VERY large cord (1" dia?), so any smaller cords seems to be loose allowing strain to be placed directly on the clamps (possibly resulting in a loose connection over time and a potential fire hazard. Purchase with caution. June 18, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by You get what you pay for in this Frankenplug. What you supposedly gain in versatility (either a 30 or 50 amp plug in one box) you lose in terms of ease of use. Do yourself a favor. Plunk down the extra bucks and buy a real 30 amp plug or a real 50 amp plug. Forget this compromise of a Frankenplug. January 9, 2015
