How do I wire this socket

Asked by: Reagan
like everything else electrical, power cord UNPLUGED then, work enough cord up to the socket area till you have at least 12 inches hanging free. there, the hard part is done. now its easy, clip off the old socket about 1" away from the old socket. the insulation should be soft and pliable. clip between the two wires and pull them apart about 1". carefully score the insulation one half inch from the end and bend it to separate. now twist the insulation that is to be removed in a clockwise direction, this bundles the wire strands. bend the bundled conductors into a fish hook shape. place the hook around the screw in the direction you will tighten the screw. [righty tighty, lefty loosey] ya done great !! let there be light

can this be used as a replacement socket in a swag lamp?

Asked by: CA
The socket can be used in number of styles of lamps, and it has a turn knob at the base to allow for manual switching at the bulb.

Bottom Turn Knob Socket - Black is rated 1.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from junk I've purchased two of these in the past few months to replace on in a lamp that the original switch finally wore out in after over 20 years of use, the first replacement lasted a couple of months before it started to fail, the second one lasted a week before failed, never knew turning a lamp on and off twice a day was too much for this manufactures limits.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Look elsewhere It worked for a few months, now I have to unplug the lamp to turn off. Looking for better quality part or new lamp.
