This item - Model 6672 - DOES have an "Optional" locator light. It is possible that Model 6674 does not have the locator light.

Answer:
This device does not have a locator light on it. You may want to consider the DSL06 for a similarly-rated dimmer that has an optional locator light.

Programming Switch?

This question is from Decora SureSlide Universal 150W LED/CFL Incandescent Slide-To-Off Dimmer, White

The common spec sheet for this item Model 6672 and the alternate Model 6674 at:

http://www.homedepot.com/catalog/pdfImages/6d/6d9c3314-3671-41d5-86b3-15b90e1aaf15.pdf

describes a "Lamp Selector/ Programming Switch"; note the description of

"– LED/Incandescent mode provides optimized dimming for LED lamps and for incandescent operation.
– Switch also enables the programming mode allowing
users to change the dimmer low light settings for applications where the user experiences unstable light or flicker."

Is this programming switch ONLY present on the 6674? I am using a bank of 7 Digitron BR30 8W LEDs with the 6672 which has only the nightlight switch, and I have severe flickering when dimming, even though Digitron support has recommended the 6672 as a compatible dimmer.

Answer:
The 6672 does not have a trim adjustment like the 6674. If there' is flickering when "off", make sure the nightlight is turned off. If the behavior continues, I would reach out to Digitron, as they have recommended the dimmer.

Answer:
The 6672 is strictly single-pole. You can use the 6674 if you're interested in a 3-way operation, however, it is not slide-to-off.

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 52 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I have purchased several more of these and am replacing all the dimmer switches in my home with this style, much easier to use and easy to install. October 27, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Easy install; works well This replaces my previous Leviton slide switch, which is the third one I've replaced in about a decade, so, clearly, they don't last! Regardless, after reading the directions, and comparing the wiring between the old and new one, it was a simple replacement (after turning the circuit breaker off, of course!). It has an indicator light (shown in the photo, below), which is user-selectable, but only before the cover/face plate is put on. When on, it is easy to see in the dark, but, uses a tiny bit of electricity. It fades off as you slide the switch to make the lights brighter, and turns completely off when you have it all the up (assuming that's how you positioned it on the wall). It makes a slight humming sound as it is being turned on, but fades as the switch is moved up; it is almost twice as loud as the previous one (I still have switches with the old style), but, you can only hear it when you are a few inches away, and even then, it is barely noticeable. The only issue I have is that the switch slide profile is less pronounced than my previous slide switch, which is no longer available, making it a little more difficult to slide (i.e., the older one stuck out more, so it was easier to put your finger on top or below the slide, and move it, accordingly; this one is a little "stiffer" and is harder to both place one's finger on and slide. As such, I wouldn't recommend it for younger children's rooms or frail elderly's rooms, or where else they otherwise have access, as it may be difficult for them. It works well with my four small (65w) parabolic lights (the max for this unit with multiple lights is 400 watts (600 with a single light), so I am well below that), two of which are incandescent and two are CFLs, the latter of which take a moment to charge, but, dim as well as the incandescents (n.b., not all CFLs are dimmable!). So, as long as ease-of-use and maximum wattage aren't issues, this may be a good choice where dimmable lights are needed. July 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by DECORA DIMMER SWITCH EASY TO INSTALL -WORKS WELL-GOOD VALUE ............ September 27, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Budget dimmer First time I've used a dimmer on LED lighting, I was concerned about flickering, didn't happen, thee only gripe I have is that the fixtures, 8 fixtures, didn't dim lower, but the fact they didn't flicker while dimming makes up for it. August 30, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed I bought this dimmer to control the brightness for a newly installed Recessed LED Can Disk Light. When the installation was complete, I turned the power on at the breaker panel then returned to the installation location. When I slowly moved the slider from the off position, the light came on at almost full brightness. As soon as I nudged the slider upward a fraction of an inch, the light got fully bright. The dimmer produces almost no "taper" at all. At least 3/4 of the slider travel is at full brightness (65 watts). Very disappointing. August 23, 2016
