The EVER-Green-400 40 amp charging station can be installed indoor or outdoors. When installing at an outdoor location you will need to remove the short power cord and hard wire the unit. The internal metal cover is held on by 4 tapper proof screws ( pin-in Torx type T25 driver Store SKU # 853343 ). Gently unplug the ribbon cable from the circuit board that is attached to the front cover, or have some one hold the cover for you. Install a one inch HUB connector in the lower opening of the metal box (Store SKU # 428027). If the power cord enters into the top disconnect the wires and remove it. Use the fill plug that was in the lower opening and install it in the top opening. This plug keeps water from entering the top of the metal box. The HUB connector when tightened forms a water tight seal with the box.

Easy install and can work with the 3.3kw or the new leaf 6.6 charger.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Peanut Not worth the cost
Would not buy again. Not worth the $100's more for an hour less of charge time ! Plus, you have to buy their 40 amp non standard outlet for an additional $80.+. Plastic housing covers the charger, which is about 1/4 of the size. Unit does not need to be this big taking up valuable garage space.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Waterfallacres Good charger, bad enclosure
Charger works very well, definite improvement over the Ford charger we had. The actual charger is in a metal enclosure mounted inside a plastic enclosure. We had no complaint with the metal parts. The plastic is another story. It is very flimsy and although they say you can use it for mounting without the extra plate they sell separately, you should buy the plate. The plastic will likely crack. They should just include it. Other the fighting the plastic, the installation was easy. The cord is very heavy duty, but surprisingly flexible. The cord also wraps around the enclosure fairly well and the plug fits into a neat self-aligning storage holder. It works well, but I am holding my breath on long-term durability due to the pour quality plastic previously discussed. Even if it does break, the actual charger still seems good, especially compared to other chargers in this size range price wise. I am charging a CMAX.

This unit requires wall mounting I wanted the unit that can be plugged into a wall Jack just below charger. This allows you to move charger, sell it or take it with you when you move. I am returning this and looking for the SBT option. Not sure if Home depot carries that model. I got the prewired kit so I thought this was the right one.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Mike Great Station for RAV4 EV or Tesla
This charging station is different than most because it supports the 40 amp maximum charging rate of the RAV4 EV and Tesla Model S Single Charger. It is also a good choice for other EVs since it provides some room to grow as on-board chargers start to accept more power. However, you need a minimum of 8 gauge wire and a 50 amp breaker to feed it. Pay particular attention to which version you buy. The -5PT is the "Flush Mount" for outlets recessed into a wall while the -SPT is the "Surface Mount" for outlets mounted in a box on the surface of the wall, usually fed by a surface conduit. The plug on the Flush Mount is hidden under the plastic cover at the top of the unit, while the plug on the Surface Mount unit comes out of the bottom and is exposed. Home Depot shipping was faster than they estimated at the time of order.
The only "Con" is that they should include the mounting bracket with the unit instead of forcing you to buy the "Pre-Wire Kit" which has extra parts that are not needed for the flush-mount type of installation.

No problems with this higher end unit. Needed longer cord and like the plug for the wall instead of hardwired. Electrician was necessary.
