Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by PeteM Two failed in about a year
The switch in two of these failed in only about a year. The original one with the house (a Leviton) lasted for years. I'm going to try a Pass and Seymour unit that I got from the "other guys". I didn't read the reviews before I purchased them. I should have.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bob Poor quality switch
Appearance- and installation-wise, it's fine. The porcelain is good; the outlet and socket are okay. The switches on these Leviton pull-chain models are about as chintzy as can be. I have bought several of these over the years because of availability and price, but no more. I'm tired of having to replace them every few years -- or more often, sometimes. What value is there in having to keep replacing them? I'm done with Leviton. As of now, I'm trying the brand sold at one of the competitors' stores.

Same as everyone else... pull chain broke. After looking at the chain some more, not very durable. Had a pull chain unit installed before and I think it lasted at least 10 years. Clearly not "yanking on it too hard" as other suggest.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by dc8flyer Perfect solution for closet and garage
I bought two of these lights. One for a dark closet and another to replace a similar light in the garage that did not have a plug.
I installed one in a closet that had no light at all. I fished and tied the light into the power line to the door bell located in the closet. I ran the light switch cord across the top of the closet and then down the opposite wall using a couple of eye hooks and finished it off with a baseball pull chain. I used a couple of rubber washers and inserted them into the eye hooks to keep the sound of the metal pull chain from making so much noise.
In all it works great and the closet finally has a light. The pull chain works great but I just have to remember not to try and flipp for a swich and instead pull the chain.
In the garage the plug on the light allowed me to run some (Southwire 50 ft. 14-2 Romex White NM-B with Gauge) around the ceiling and walls so I could install a (Legrand 4 USB/3-Outlet Charging Station) over my work bench.
I covered the wiring from the Ceiling light with (Wiremold/Legrand 12 ft. Cordmate II Kit, White) for a nice look. The molding has adhesive on the back but I used (Loctite PL Premium 10 fl. oz. Polyurethane Construction Adhesive) to make sure it stayed in place.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by TOGA Never replace one again
OK, I have had one for a few years and the chain finally broke. Like all things they wear out, nothing lasts forever. Here's how you will never have to replace one again. After I installed another one like this one, I leave it always on. Then I purchased a 2-Outlet White Socket with Pull Chain from Home Depot and then put my bulb into that socket and use that pull chain. If it breaks, I only have to unscrew replace the 2-Outlet White Socket with Pull Chain. No electrical work. Plus I have 3 outlets.

The pull chain broke at the base after one year. Long term durability gets poor rating. This review section is ridiculous. It said my review is too short, so I am going to complain about the review process to help fill up space. Geez.
