Hi, I used this for led dimmer bulbs, but after they are on for a while they start to flicker. Bought 4 switches and all do the same thing. Only use for incandescent bulbs

The Cree LED lights are compatible with this dimmer according to their website. http://creebulb.com/Content/downloads/product_info/cree_dimmer_compatibility.pdf
I am going to install these bulbs today and see if they work with this dimmer. They worked with the old dimmers in the living and dining room - so why will they not work with these dimmers in my basement (I think they will)?

Correction to my prior answer. It turns out to not be compatible with the LED lamps I referenced. Even though the lamp user manual states this dimmer works on those lamps, it is not true.

Answer:
That depends on the LED lamp manufacturer. For example, Home Depot's own Hampton Bay LED lights 1000532244 and 1000532369 are supposed to work with this particular dimmer according to the instruction manual.

Answer:
Good day,
The 6631-1LW is only rated for incandescent bulbs and will not work with LED bulbs. You can use the 6674-P0W universal dimmer, which is compatible with incandescent, CFL and LED bulbs.

Hi, This dimmer goes on the wall and you use it for whatever light you have attached to that dimmer switch. I don't think it makes a difference what bulb it is, its the switch that you are purchasing. I would say that if your light itself can take a LED than yes.

Some dimmers state that they slide to off. Is that something specific to look for? Does this dimmer turn off and on the light? Or does it just control the brightness?

Answer:
If your asking will it dim a non-dimmable bulb then no. If your asking will it switch on a non-dimmable bulb then yes, but it will cause issues to the dimmer and bulbs. It can cause the dimmer to stop working after a period of time and can cause the bulbs to have a shorter lifespan than normal.

Answer:
You could try and have no problems - but it may also start short circuiting and/or get hot; I had three of these in my home and was using them on dimmable and non-dimmable bulbs. Eventually the shorts blew out the water heater and a circuit breaker; so don't try it with non-dimmable bulbs or be prepared for problems (happened after 6/8 months of usage).

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Simple to install and created the light I wanted Easy to install but pricey. I'd like to do the whole house, but i'll just do a few at a time at this price. February 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great inexpensive dimmer switch with class Nice looking dimmer switch for about 9 bucks. Looks a lot nicer than the old rotary switches. Buy the snap on switch plate for a couple of bucks. Nice looking and no screws. I recommend this product for its value and looks. Piece of cake to install. The night light makes it easy to see where the switch is in the dark. February 10, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Sure Slide Dimmer Good product, easy to install. Grand kids like like lower light levels for TV and games. Very satisfied. January 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works great, great price no complaints, works great and it was a good deal. Hope it lasts a long time - can't speak to that yet, it has only been in for 2 weeks. When it's dark, there's a visible tiny spot/dot that glows orange I guess to be a tiny nightlight so you can find the switch in the dark. It is very dim and isn't annoying, it doesn't brightened up the room. Nice feature to help you get your bearings if you need to find the switch in the dark. December 22, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very easy to install It was very easy to do myself and works great. Love the little light that allows you to see the switch in the dark. Great addition to this fixture. January 19, 2016
