Paul, if the CFL bulbs are dimmable, this switch will work. If not, you can purchase dimmable CFL or LED bulbs from Home Depot.

Answer:
Yes, this will work with a 3-bulb fixture as long as the total buld wattage is under the 600 watts. You must make sure that the CFL bulbs you choose are dimmable. Consider LED bulbs as well. I found them to have a more 'natural' feel and last longer.

Bought FEIT LEDs from Costco and they definitely hum with this switch. I had to remove them, and now I'm stuck with the switch.

The 6674 dimmer is a universal dimmer that is rated for incandescent, CFL and LED bulbs. As long as the LED bulb is compatible with the dimmer, it should not buzz.

If i need a led dimmer for 21 led bulbs of 8Watt each. Will this dimmer support that much LED wattage?? (Aprox 168Watt in total for LED ), Some dimmers say 600watt for any bulb but then say only 150Watt for Led Bulbs!
In case this one does not work for me, do sell any with that LED Wattage support ?

Excellent question JC. There is a lot more to this than meets the eye. This specific Leviton switch is rated for the usual 150W for LED's. Whether or not it can handle it is a matter of the design of the LED bulbs. Leviton does not control the design of the LED's so they can only provide an estimate. Excellent question JC. There is a lot more to this than meets the eye. This specific Leviton switch is rated for the usual 150W for LED's. Whether or not it can handle it is a matter of the design of the LED bulbs. Leviton does not control the design of the LED's so they can only provide an estimate. Different types of LED's may generate a lot of heat in a dimmer switch - others not so much. Again, depends on the design of the bulb. Cree bulbs are generally pretty good. Depends on the bulbs you are using more than anything else.
IF...if you are using Cree bulbs I might give it a try myself but I'd monitor the dimmer to see how hot it gets. The risk is a serious one...fire. Not something to fool with.
What I would suggest is that you contact Leviton and ask them about the choices. There is something called a low voltage dimmer that can handle roughly double this wattage but costs nearly double as well. Of course that is a different (low voltage) set up.
Can you split the load and use two different dimmers side by side? That would be the simplest and safest solution. Also note that Leviton has a "Dimmers Buying Guide" that is very good. Read Less

GU10 LED bulb compatibility?

I was going to purchase these bulbs to use in a new track lighting system (5 bulbs total). The Leviton Compatibility chart didn't show anything about GU10 formats. Can you tell me if these (TGMOLD LED Spotlight Bulb-DB15502D-5, Dimmable, 50w Equivalent, Soft White 3000k) will perform satisfactorily?

Answer:
I do not have direct experience with the GU10 bulbs paired with this dimmer, but the important points are all there for this to work: 110v, LED, dimmable, and well within the number of total watts for the dimmer switch to handle without sweating ..or rather.. smoking. Make sure you turn the mini-selector switch to LED/Incan and not CFL during installation.

Answer:
I do not have any testing information for that particular bulb. If the LED fixture calls for a forward-phase dimmer, I imagine it would suffice. Otherwise, you may need to find a different model.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Upcrade dimmer for CFL and dimmable LED lamps Easily replace your existing switch or older dimmer. Settings for standard incandescent, CFL and dimmable LED lamps. I tried the new LED candelabra bulbs, but the olkd dimmer didn't work. Checking out HP website had the fix. A few minutes and the switch was working as described. Low and high levels are adjustable , just follow the instruction card. Love the dimmer for setting the mood in the dining room. April 8, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Three Way Dimmer The best 3 way in-store option. Both the dimmer slider and on/off switch have a high quality feel. The instructions don't exactly match up to the wires hanging out the back, (two red wires, each coming out of a different hole) so there was some process of elimination and electrical experience required for installation. I'm using Incandescents, but I like that this can be used with CFLs or LEDs if I so choose. The 4 25W clear bulbs do buzz when dimmed.. not sure if that's a fault of the dimmer or the bulbs themselves. March 1, 2016
