Paul, if the CFL bulbs are dimmable, this switch will work. If not, you can purchase dimmable CFL or LED bulbs from Home Depot.

Answer:
Yes, this will work with a 3-bulb fixture as long as the total buld wattage is under the 600 watts. You must make sure that the CFL bulbs you choose are dimmable. Consider LED bulbs as well. I found them to have a more 'natural' feel and last longer.

Bought FEIT LEDs from Costco and they definitely hum with this switch. I had to remove them, and now I'm stuck with the switch.

The 6674 dimmer is a universal dimmer that is rated for incandescent, CFL and LED bulbs. As long as the LED bulb is compatible with the dimmer, it should not buzz.

If i need a led dimmer for 21 led bulbs of 8Watt each. Will this dimmer support that much LED wattage?? (Aprox 168Watt in total for LED ), Some dimmers say 600watt for any bulb but then say only 150Watt for Led Bulbs!
In case this one does not work for me, do sell any with that LED Wattage support ?

This device is only rated for 150W of LED. I would recommend the DSL06 which is rated for 300W of LED lamps (600W incandescent).

Excellent question JC. There is a lot more to this than meets the eye. This specific Leviton switch is rated for the usual 150W for LED's. Whether or not it can handle it is a matter of the design of the LED bulbs. Leviton does not control the design of the LED's so they can only provide an estimate. Excellent question JC. There is a lot more to this than meets the eye. This specific Leviton switch is rated for the usual 150W for LED's. Whether or not it can handle it is a matter of the design of the LED bulbs. Leviton does not control the design of the LED's so they can only provide an estimate. Different types of LED's may generate a lot of heat in a dimmer switch - others not so much. Again, depends on the design of the bulb. Cree bulbs are generally pretty good. Depends on the bulbs you are using more than anything else.
IF...if you are using Cree bulbs I might give it a try myself but I'd monitor the dimmer to see how hot it gets. The risk is a serious one...fire. Not something to fool with.
What I would suggest is that you contact Leviton and ask them about the choices. There is something called a low voltage dimmer that can handle roughly double this wattage but costs nearly double as well. Of course that is a different (low voltage) set up.
Can you split the load and use two different dimmers side by side? That would be the simplest and safest solution. Also note that Leviton has a "Dimmers Buying Guide" that is very good. Read Less

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Doesn't work as a dimmer for single LED/CFL I needed a dimmer for a single LED light. It doesn't work. When you try to dim the light, it flashes like crazy. I also tried a CFL and it did the same thing. If you want On or Flash like a disc, they are your switch. They work fine with incandescant bulbs. October 6, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by vette I gave this a one star review because it didn't dim the LED bulb I bought. New information:i some LED bulbs are dimmable and some are not. Make sure you buy LED/CFT dimmable bulbs. The marking may be in the very fine print saying "not Dimmable" October 6, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Problems with LED Lamps We've had one of these dimmers in use for about 2 years now on a track light with 4 lamps. It worked fine, until we replaced all the lamps with dimmable LED ones about 9 months ago. Since then we have frequent "Flickering" of the lamps, when they all go out for a moment and then come back on. It seems to happen at all intensities. So I bypassed the dimmer and the problem stopped. Clearly the dimmer and the LED lamps are not completely compatible, even though the information says they should be compatible. September 11, 2016
