Answer:
Yes, but only on the light circuit, don't wire it to the main power feed if only one hot wire, neutral and ground. You should have 4 wires available at the dimmer location, and wire the dimmer to the wire that turns on only the lights in the fan

Answer:
Depends on the fixture. In case of failure, a likely consequence is motor burnout. This question should be addressed by the maker of the fixture.

Answer:
This is only designed to control incandescent lighting, and not a motor load, such as your fan. You can use a RTD01 that allows you to hook up both to a single device, while allowing for independent control.

Answer:
It depends on the bulb. Many LEDs say that an LED-rated dimmer is suggested but not required, and many LED bulbs are compatible with incandescent dimmers, though some won't dim below a certain point on this switch.
On the other hand, many LED-rated dimmers cause 60hz hum from either the switch, the bulbs or both.

Answer:
In terms of this particular dimmer, this is only for incandescent and halogen bulbs.
However, if you use the CL Lutron or Leviton dimmers rated for dimmable LED and CFL bulbs, they can also work for all bulbs as well. The key is also making the bulb you use is also dimmable.
