Product Overview

Importance of Deep Watering Trees and Shrubs -Trees and shrubs need periodic deep watering. Apply enough water to wet the entire root zone and to encourage deep rooting. Deeper roots are better able to withstand periods of drought; shallow watering on the other hand, leads to shallow roots and plants that are susceptible to drought and strongly affected by fluctuating temperatures. Consult with your gardening expert about desired frequency of watering.

  • Delivers water directly to the root zone of trees and shrubs
  • Saves water by eliminating wasteful runoff or evaporation
  • Encourages deep root growth
  • Easily attaches to a water-soluble hose end sprayer for use as a root feeder
  • Drills its own holes, avoiding digging
  • Leaves beneficial aeration holes
  • Dozens of additional uses as a water blaster
  • Guaranteed forever

Where can I order the fertilizer bottle to be hooked up to this irrigator

Where can I order the fertilizer bottle to be hooked up to this irrigator

This unit looks like a Miracle Gro fertilizer dispenser. Check garden shop area, most dispensers of this type can be attached to hoses or any standard hose fitting.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good price/drill 2 holes to make it GREAT! This root irrigator only has one hole out of the very end of the tube, so it doesn't have the ability to water efficiently in clay soil. My husband drilled five staggard holes thru the pipe about an inch apart from the bottom up. This may void any warranty, but without these holes the Yard Butler does not work. The one hole in the end gets clogged with dirt-especially clay soil-and water pressure builds in the hose unless the water is almost turned off. With the holes, It works fantastic. I can water each tree very well in 15 minutes. The Yard Butler is stout enough to push into dry hard ground with the help of the water from our drilled holes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great and is Designed Well This product works well. Definitely insert the irrigator in the ground with the water on a low flow. At first I tried pushing the irrigator in the ground without the water on and didn't get very far; with the water on the irrigator easily went into the ground. The irrigator is sturdy and feels like it would be very hard to break or bend. Under normal use it should last a long time. I live where the soil is relatively sandy and I recommend a really low flow because the soil and sand were making there way to the surface. I would definitely recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More than just a tree root feeder Not only do I use it for the trees but I also use it to bring back dead grass areas. Watering the yard on top just evaperates so I use it all over the yard. I just move it from spot to spot and the yard looks great. HomeDepot does sell a valve (Melnor Metal Hose Shut Off) that will conect to this item so you can control the water flow.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from junk I have had two now (including one replacement unit) and on both the hose connection broke off from the tool within one week of use. Very poor quality product. The one hole on the end also plugs right away when you put it any soil with some substance to it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A Better Choice Available The Ross Root Feeder-Heavy Duty model is a better choice at $34.95. Home Depot also sell the Ross feeder. I have the Ross feeder and love it. Be sure to buy the heavy duty mode.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent for drought restrictions We had a similar device 25 years ago that was made by wife's father but it disappeared. We're so happy to have this item to deep water the roots of our trees during the extreme drought conditions in this part of TX. We credit it for the health of our trees because surface watering is not sufficient to keep the trees alive.
