They are not made to support a single thickness of plywood as a pull out, but they will support a thicker shelf, say 2" thick. I prefer these to "under-mount" slides and purpose made shelf slides to support pull-out shelves if they are going to be used as a work surface, or to support heavy items.
If you want a sturdy pull out work surface, make a shelf comparable to an upside-down drawer, but the "bottom" of the drawer, which would be the shelf in your application, would overhang the sides of the "drawer". You could also build a more conventional drawer, but put a hinged lid on it to make a pullout work surface with storage underneath.
In one of my shop cabinets I built a pullout work surface for doing electronics work. It is essentially a large lap drawer like you would find in an office desk, but I added a hinged lid that is the work surface. I keep all the small tools and parts stored under the hinged lid so that I can get to the soldering iron and so forth, and then stow it all out of sight and out of the dust.
In kitchen cabinets, I've built trays to hold pots and pans. They have a low front, slightly thicker than the width of the slides themselves, and trapezoidal sides that slope upward to a high back so that the pots won't fall off the back of the cabinet. Read Less

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Item Installed quickly and easily. Works effortlessly to both open and soft close August 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Drawer Slides I've Ever Had I purchased 5 pairs (there are 2 per set) and installed them in my new kitchen remodel. Yes, the instructions are skimpy... but if you don't know what you are doing then you have 2 choices... go through a learning curve and LEARN by trial and error... or do an internet search which will give you many examples of how to build drawers and install drawer slides. I've read the 1-star and 2-star reviews and I just don't get it. I'm a senior and a long-time DIY'er. Before the internet.. I went through a trial-by-error learning curve. Now I use it for any new project even though at my age I've done a heckuva lot! I think people who said they measured correctly when they built their drawers because they bind or fit sloppy are a bit mistaken! When cutting the drawer bottom (for example) one must cut OUTSIDE the line rather than directly ON the line or inside the line. Many people DON'T take into consideration the THICKNESS of their saw blade. Cut right on or inside the line and you'll be x 2 the thickness of your saw blade LESS than your specifications! You'll have a sloppy fit. Cut too far outside the line and you'll have a binding fit. As for me... my 5 drawers fit perfectly and soft close. I'm happy. My wife is happy and life is good. ;-) I removed a built-in oven we never used (except to heat pizza two or three times per year) and boxed it in nicely and added 3 soft-close drawers. I also removed a dish washing machine we never used as its a waste of resources. We hand wash everything which is much cleaner and more sanitary than letting hard to clean protean build up on dishes and pans then expecting a dish washing machine to clean them as well as we can. Again, I boxed in this area and installed 2 soft-close drawers to hold pots and pans. Wonderful! We never have to bend over to the bottom shelf or get on our knees to find that special pot or pan which is always way the heck back in the furthermost reaches of a shelf! Just pull a drawer out for easy to reach pots and pans! Best of all, these drawer slides support 100 lbs. I would highly recommend these drawer slides to anybody... and if you don't know how to build a drawer, Home Depot offers a variety of pre-built drawers you might be interested in. July 12, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Quality is poor Ordered 7 of these for pantry drawers. One was broken on arrival. Two more broke in the first week of use. Packaging allows them to get beat up in shipping, the red plastic actuator for the soft close is too flimsy, and they don't have hardware sufficient enough for the drawer weight they claim it will hold (3 x 1/2" screws). Home Depot doesn't offer any other brand, take it or leave it. May 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by NICE STURDY FULL EXTENTION DRAW SLIDES The soft close full extension draw slides from LIBERTY are pretty simple to install with included directions and mounting hardware. The draw slides function flawlessly and draw is easily opened and closed thanks to good size and quality ball bearings. The soft close spring system kicks in at the last inch or so to close draw completely without slamming against face of cabinet, etc. These sturdy 20 inch ball bearing draw slides are sturdy and can hold up to 50 pounds of weight. The only thing that could improve these draw slides would be if a stronger spring was put on soft close system to help pull draw closed. I installed these on a work table to make a pull out shelf similar to a key board shelf on a computer table to give me more work space for certain projects. March 23, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Full extension drawer slide Installation was a little challenging but solved the problem by using 1/2" plywood screwed to the inside of the cabinet to support the slides. April 7, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not bad but check them before installing Overall the seems to work pretty well. I have seen about a 20% fallout however. The plastics portion of the slides often break in transport. I am a bit concerned with longevity but we will see. Aside from that they work very well. No issues after 30 days. What a bear to install if your cabinets did not have the same setup. I had to build the sides for the tracks to mount to. Very time consuming. February 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by built to last drawer slides - easy to install and purposeful very well made and slide easier than ever - quiet too! Easy to install with step by step instructions and placement October 27, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great replacement Replacement slides. Works well. Would recommend to others.. September 30, 2015
