Yes, they are a basic tapping screw that is appropriate for most wood. Alternate fasteners should be used with MDF.

Answer:
As long as the inset on the back side of the door is 3/8” the thickness of the door material does not affect the operation of this hinge. Thicker material will usually add considerable weight to the door, and a larger number of hinges may be needed to support very heavy doors.

The self-closing feature is only a minor-assist during final few inches of closing. Satin-nickel does not look as nice as the brushed-nickel finish of other fixtures. Since I needed three, I wish they were sold in a 3-pak. As others had reported, the mounting screws are fine-threaded and quite short and barely adequate; some may want to upgrade these mounting screws; the small, felt bumpers are nice. For retro-fitting, beware that, although the hole-patterns line up with older (20+yrs.) hinges, there is ~1/8" additional offset causing door to not close completely; for proper fit, I had to drill all new mounting-holes for these hinges.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from As replacement hinges did not fit! The hinges did not fit. They were a slight difference and would not work on our cabinet doors replacing the old ones. I have to return them.

Not a hint of brown and nothing like the photo. They were also scratched and pitted as if they were used and old. I called Liberty and they said it would be referred to quality control for review. Very nice and thought there must have been a bad batch. I returned them to Home Depot and purchased flat black and I'll just have to spray paint them.

I can not describe their appearance as "oil rubbed bronze", despite that appearing on every package. They are a fairly glossy black. No hints of bronze or any other patina. Very disappointing, I wish I had the time to return them and find a different hinge.

If you are replacing these from 20 year old cabinets, these will be larger. You will have to trim inside the door or make new holes. Its not an easy swap, you will have to make another set of screw holes inside door, chances are the outside as well. But they will hole the doors close.

The screws included for mounting are too fine and small for my liking. I used a larger diameter and courser threaded screw. I have put these hinges to use daily for a couple of months without issue.
