Customer Questions & Answers

Do these hinges come in any other finishes besides nickel? I'm looking for oil rubbed bronze to match the other hardware.

Asked by: Anonymous
They are hidden hinges. When the door is closed they cannot be seen so having them matching the external hardware is not necessary.

hidden

Are these hidden hinges or can they still be seen when the cabinet door is closed?
Asked by: artist
Yes, hidden and out of sight completely when closed if installed properly.

Is there a minimum/maximum amount of door overlay or can the doors be any size?

Asked by: ncovert
A face frame cabinet is a cabinet which has a front panel into which an opening has been cut. An overlay door is a door which, when closed, lays “on top” of the cabinet opening (no part of the door goes into the opening since the door is larger than the opening). The overlay dimension is simply how much bigger the door is than the opening of the cabinet (as measured on the hinged side of the door). Here is how to measure your door overlay on a face frame cabinet, (the measuring process is basically the same for a frameless cabinet): Overlay Door (Note; door sits “on top” of face frame and is larger than cabinet opening) Line up the edge of your door with the edge of a piece of tape and apply the tape to the face frame of the cabinet (must be on the hinged side of the door). Now, open the cabinet door and measure from the edge of the tape (inside edge) to the edge of the opening of the cabinet. In this case the overlay is 1-1/4″. The example shown above is of a European hinge but the process is the same for any kind of overlay hinge.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Value I use these a replacement for the hinges that break in my kitchen. They fit great and I use the original screws instead of the ones included in the package. I am now buying my second box as I am down to the last one.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Metric? Seriously? I'll give it two stars because for the price (in the 10 pack) the hinge is a good value. They are not the greatest but decent otherwise, could have been four stars but...you loose two for a nit-picky reason. It is an irritation for which there is no excuse. My grips are two(ish) and are metric. First, 35mm hole? Seriously? Gimme a break. We are not metric in the US (we should be but that's not the point) and apart from the kit YOU market one has a difficult time finding metric forstner bits in general and definitely not at Home Depot. Translated to fraction its close enough to 1 3/8 (34.9250 mm) and you know it. You also know most people don't. Now, I'll grant you that the kit bit is cheaper than a single 1 3/8 but probably 'cheaper' in all regards not just price. It is however the only way to get your marking template which is another part of the marketing ploy. How about you put the template in the 10 pack for an extra buck and ditch the whole millimeter bit thing. While we are on millimeters...again with the millimeters. The instructions call for an 8mm hole for the screw inserts. Uh, yeah, again, no metric bits and this time you don't offer one either...like in that kit with the 35mm? Come on. Its close to a 5/16 (7.9375 mm) and thats what you should print in the instructions. Now about that kit. Why don't you make it first, fractional and NOT metric and second, include a 5/6 flat bottom bit the same length as the forstner so folks could set up the drill press ONCE for depth and just change out the bits? THAT would make it a value. As it is now, its kind of not really. While the anchor type screws might be a good option in some cases I find them unnecessary really. For my use I removed them and just drilled a tiny shallow pilot hole. A drop of wood glue for good measure and you are set. Keep it simple, ironic since fractions are not simple compared to a base 10 measuring system, but you know what I mean. Why do you need to try and get clever. You have the only ones on the shelf at Home Depot. No need for ugly marketing tricks.
