I saw one other brand that stated explicitly they only work with non-visible hinges.

Answer:
Yes they don't interfere with hinges so it doesn't matter. You may have to loosen the damper on them since there is less leverage

The purpose of these dampers is to keep self-closing doors from slamming shut so hard. For example, I have installed three of of them in low, mid, hi positions on a 9 ft door in our back hall to our garage. It's a large, heavy door and when opened fully can create some noise when allowed to freely close on its own. But having the 3 dampers in place helps a lot. Soft Close Cabinet Door Damper is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 105.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Plastic body warps when you tighten the screw I didn't realize that they sell both plastic and metal slow closures. These are plastic. I figured it wouldn't matter. Until I tried to tighten a screw down. Either the thing is loose and doesn't work, or you tighten it down and it warps the body making it turn sideways. The trick is to hold the drill as horizontal as possible (maybe 22 degree) and hold the body of the closure as flush and tight as you can against the wood cabinet while you screw it in. Make sure to use a drill with a torque setting on low or you will rip right through the plastic. I am contemplating taking them all out and returning them for metal ones. Complete junk.

I have hated those slamming doors for years and when I found this product I investigated it and decided to give it a try. The instructions were clear, the video was helpful and the product works as advertised. I found it relatively easy to install 20 of these door dampers and am confident that they will work for a long time. If a couple fail after a time they will be easy to replace and at a reasonable price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from How did I live without these? Extremely easy to install and makes all of the difference in the world. I actually had to look to make sure I had closed the cabinet completely because I was so used to hearing the SLAM! Intended for just the kitchen but ended up putting these on every cabinet door in the house. Could not be more happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from They work like a charm! Very simple to install. I positioned the closer in the upper corner on the hinge side, then used a finishing nail to mark the drill spot (cabinet wood can be very hard and slippery. Next I drilled the 3/32" hole, put in the screw to hand tightness, and it worked perfectly. One note, loosen the adjustment screw before installing the closer. They are usually screwed all the way in, but for light cabinet doors they need to be much looser. If you unscrew it too far it will come off, but is easily reinstalled. Best part: No more loud cabinet door banging! We put them in all kitchen and bathroom cabinets, where they work perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as expected I paid extra for the Liberty brand because generic brands had reviews claiming poor performance, squeaking, etc. With Liberty, so far so good. I purchased 5 boxes and used every last one of these dampers. I'd highly recommend, it's a cheap way to realize the high end feel of soft close cabinets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These work wonderfully! These will save your ears and your money. I have an 8-year old son that seems to LOVE to slam the kitchen cupboard doors. Purchased 2 packages of these and will be buying some more for our bathroom cabinets also. These have a screw that can be adjusted to allow for heavier/lighter doors.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from work well Pretty good, tough to keep them square in the corner, the screw needs to be at the perfect angle or it shifts the whole unit. if the thing had a square footprint ( base against cabinet), this would not happen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Purchase Ever When my son bought his house these were the first thing he put in it. I had to have them too. They are great at keeping from your cupboards from slamming. I highly recommend them.
