Is the finish nickle colored paint or nickle plating? Is the 45 degree angle brace welded to the bracket or bolted?
Asked by: Shameless
Packaging says product is steel. Has a brushed-nickel finish, which is probably brushed steel. I can't tell if it's coated, but it looks nice and is strong. The 45 degree angle bracket is riveted on both ends. There is a setscrew/thumbscrew at the back of the rod hook (missing in picture). Beware of 3-3/8in. non-standard hook depth, won't fit existing 1-by-4 wall cleats.

What size and type of screws to use to install this bracket?

I saw that there are two screw holes at the top and bottom of the vertical piece. If one bracket is supposed to hold 500 lbs, this means that each screw will hold 250 lbs shear force. What is the diameter of the screw and what the minimum screw imbedment depth into the studs?
Asked by: Emilee
I also used #12 screws. I have a 1-by-4 cleat behind the bracket, then the drywall behind that, which in total takes 1-1/4 in. To get good grab, I went with 2-1/2 in. length to screw 1-1/4 in. into the stud. Holes should be pre-drilled for your screw size for maximum strength. I couldn't find "brushed-nickel-finish" screws. Get a zinc-plated or stainless-steel screw (ss is weaker), then hit 'em with a wire brush.

Are there holes to attach the shelf to the bracket?

Asked by: Brad
There are two holes to mount the shelf to the bracket, one about 9in from the back & one 3-3/8in from the back, offset left & right, respectively. The diameter is 0.16in/4mm. There is also a center hole at the bottom of the rod hook, 0.20in/5mm. Hook depth is non-standard at 3-3/8in.

Are these a discontinued item?

Are these shelf brackets a discontinued item? Or will Home Depot locations in Texas be getting them back in stock? They seem to have been on backorder for a very long time (nearly 2 months). Does anyone know when stores in Texas might be getting them back in stock? Thanks!
Asked by: Jonn
Thank you for your recent inquiry with The Home Depot, Jonn. Per the vendor, the current ETA for the bracket is the beginning of October. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future. Thank you for shopping Home Depot.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Strong Brackets These brackets look professional and are very strong, much more so than the same type of bracket sold in Home Depot stores. It's unfortunate that you have to order these online but they are worth the wait. If they didn't require an online order, these would be five star all the way for me. One thing to note: These brackets do NOT come with screws for mounting, despite what the online product details say. Also, before you buy those screws, notice the size of the hole on the brackets. The first screws I bought had too small of heads and wouldn't have worked. I used #12 screws because of the larger heads. Also, the brushed nickel color looks great with the Everbilt Heavy-Duty Closet Pole in brushed nickel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High quality product Product is substantially stronger than the much lesser quality product carried in store. just goes to she that you get what you pay for. Being used outdoors for a non typical application, and is exceptionally well suited for the fabrication. Seems well coated, as no rust has developed, and made for an exceptioally strong finished product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extremely sturdy Found these at a much better price than comparable brand. Used them to update my laundry room and create extra storage for small kitchen appliances and such. Holds a much heavier load.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice looking bracket. I had planned to use as a replacement for a white painted steel bracket but... Nice looking bracket. I had planned to use as a replacement for a white painted steel bracket but be aware the rod bracket U-holder is lower than many of the available standard white brackets. I could install it but it would then sit higher than the installed framing boards. This would not be a problem for new construction as the different dimensions would be accounted for.
