Hi Smitty,
I'm Travis from The Home Depot. Thanks for asking.
This cart is convertible from walk behind cart to a tow behind trailer, but it has no accommodation for a ball hitch.
The pin hitch allows you to use any lawn tractor, but it won't attach to a tow ball.

can this cart be dumped? and if so does the plastic tub stay attached or must it be picked up and reinstalled on the frame?

Answer:
The cart can be partially dumped if attached to yard-tractor. Full dump requires disconnect from tractor and manually lifting barrow to full upright position (can be heavy). Plastic tub is very durable and permanently affixed to the frame (i.e., stays attached).

Answer:
Yes, this cart can be dumped while attached to your riding lawn mower or tractor by pulling on the latch handle and tilting the tub backwards.

Trouble dumping

We are having trouble dumping the load whether it's as a wheelbarrow or yard cart. It doesn't want to tilt enough to actually get the stuff out of there. Any suggestions or a fix?

Answer:
This may or may not be a solution for you, but to fully dump the contents from the cart, I find it necessary to unhitch the cart from the lawn tractor, and then manually lift the cart by the handles to a vertical position. This often results in the front lip of the cart bending over, but it has been very durable, and has not broken.

10 cu. ft. 2-Way Tractor Trailer and Wheelbarrow is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 38.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Over two years of good use This cart has served me well for over two years. Assembly was not too bad and took a little over an hour. I think the instructions say that there is a 250 lb weight limit and I restrict the loads so that it is not overloaded. The only problem is the dump release. It will release with a load while traveling. I fixed this by adding a bungee cord for added release protection. I have used it as a hand cart and it works well without too much trouble to convert but I mostly use it as a pull behind for my lawn tractor. Haul firewood, mulch, yard debris, tools, plants. Good product and I have been pleased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rugged Well-Balanced Pricey Purchased this product primarily to haul 4 tons of pebble-rock and a few tons of soil around my yard by hand or with my lawn tractor. Fabrication was relatively easy, but fasteners were loose inside of box, so as I was assembling this, I was very concerned that some might be missing; however all were present (no extras). Was concerned that poly tub might not be up to the task of hauling such heavy material, but after moving tons of rock/topsoil, I found this to be a durable and well-made product. It easily converts between hand and tractor towable barrow. Remarkably well-balanced so that I was able to move very heavy materials with relative ease even over rougher terrain. Downside is that only way to unload barrow completely is to fully tip it over by hand, which requires disconnect from tractor to accomplish. Also, unit is expensive for a yard wheelbarrow. Hopefully, it will last a long time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just about perfect I bought this Lifetime Lawn Cart because I have a lawn tractor and a quad that I can hook it up to. It can haul a lot of product, wood, top soil, and mulch have all three been transported. The balance of the unit is quite amazing, if you have the proper tire pressure it will glide over any Terran. Easy to clean, very simple to switch from a cart you use like a wheel barrow to a trailer that you hitch to your lawn tractor. One issue which should explains the title, when you load the cart with a good size load you risk the latch releasing and dumping the content. To keep this from happening, I purchased a Velcro strap at one of the big box stores that I rap around the bar to keep it from accidentally releasing. I don't look at it as a negative because I would have taken that a precaution anyway. My neighbors have trailers and they have a wheel barrow, I have one that does both and they wish they were me. You will love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to roll, huge tub This is an excellent yard cart for the large yard. Easy to roll in picking up and moving twigs, branches, leaves, etc. If you have a hitch attachment to your mower, use it for the big jobs such as hauling dirt, etc.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid as trailer, heavy as wheelbarrow I bought this as a yard trailer to tow behind my lawn tractor - it works well in this mode. Given its solid construction I would say it's a little heavy to use routinely as a wheelbarrow but a useful feature nonetheless. Build quality good - one of the threaded retaining knobs vibrated loose and was lost - I improved the design by adding a lock-washer under its replacement.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from trailer and wheel barrow combo nice size and carries large quantities of sand and soil. Will have to wait and see if it holds up to general wear and tear as it does seem a little loose in the hardware rigidity dept.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good idea, with a few issues I purchased this because it can be converted while full. I use it everyday to pick horse stalls then drive it to the manure pile. The first time I drove it up the hill, it dumped out . The dump lever is poorly designed. I fixed it by purchasing a much tighter spring and now it doesn't release on its own. Second issue is the bolts used when converting it. They get stuck because of the threads. I replaced them with smooth pins. It's easier now to get them in and out, but you still have to have everything aligned just right.
