Here in Seattle we have had lots of windy, rainy days and I have not noticed any water getting in the container. I just checked (as it's been raining all day) and it is dry inside. The container is not watertight like you could store water in it but my observation is that it is assembled in such a way that rain just doesn't get in. You can always put a plastic sheet around the cushions if you're worried because it is conceivable that if rain were blown hard horizontally, it might seep in under the cover but even that fits tightly (although not sealed). Chair cushions is exactly what I use it for. I live in a high wind area in the mountains of TN. 50-60 mph is not uncommon and may last for days. Rain, freezing rain, snow, high winds, just had all the above last week. No leakage, items remained dry.

I think it's very water tight and rain shouldn't be able to intrude. I don't think I'd be hitting it with a high pressure hose, but it looks to be sealed pretty well.

No, but... To store pillows you would have to seal all the walls with a water silicone/sealant. I know someone who did this it seemed to have worked out fine for him. He said it was not a hard or long process.

The heavy duty tarps last for years even in the sun and Midwest cold. I'm confident this bin will work. I'm aware the warranty expires once the hole has been placed but it sounds like a very nice and sturdy deck box so I'm willing to give it a try. It's large enough to even put another wood sleeping box inside. I can't wait to get this box and give it a try. Read Less

It would be pretty easy if you have the right saw, but then the unit would not be quite as sturdy or rain proof. Maybe the rain problem could be solved by installing a commercial swinging cat door. Buy the door first to get the dimensions of the hole.

The plastic wall structure is fabricated for strength with several engineering tricks incorporated. The quality and strength of this product is it's main asset. To cut a hole in any of the walls would eliminate that strength and effectively destroy a high quality, expensive produce. Very bad idea.

It's pretty sturdy, and cutting the hole wouldn't be a problem but I'm not sure if that would weaken the structure or not. I'm guessing it would be OK if the lid wasn't being opened and closed all the time.

130 Gal. Polyethylene Outdoor Deck Box is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 177.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from NICE LOOKING BOX BUT got this box a couple days ago everything was fine except for the front piece. last 4 in. of right hand corner was drouped down about 3\4 in and the top lip where the lid fits down over was bent off on a 45 degree angle. did not want to return as i needed it so took a hair dryer to lip and got it hot enough to straighten it up had to leave corner droup as is. appears to have come out of the mould that way fix not a 100% but will have to do. i quess quality control was not done on this

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent quality & easy to assemble I made several trips to different stores to look at many different outside storage boxes. The 60012 was the size and quality I was looking for. I was a little worried about the color I ordered because it was listed on line as brown. When it arrived the color was the same as pictured, brown top with taupe (light brown) sides which was exactly what I was looking for. Looks great on my porch and has plenty of room for my needs. Assembly was easy and the quality is super. Thanks Lifetime!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best on the Block I have owned several of these and this is by far the best. Stronger, better construction, and appears to be built to stand up to the Colorado sun and weather. Relatively easy to assemble and fairly clear instructions. Good warranty. This is a winner. Slightly higher in price than much of the competition, but significantly higher quality more than offsets the cost.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I only buy Lifetime products now! I bought this deck box a couple of years ago and, despite being subjected to Florida weather, it still looks new. It holds all of my pool equipment and chemicals and much more. Pretty easy to assemble, has never leaked, always closes tightly. Other non-Lifetime deck boxes I've owned are so much inferior to this one. Lifetime means Lifetime!

It has weathered many storms. My kids often climb and sit on it, as well as my 225lb husband. Lots of room. We store outdoor toys, a tricycle, Baseball & hockey gear inside. LOVE IT!
