Is this really made of wood?

I bought a Bemis Lift-off toilet seat at HD about a year ago that I think is the same model but it's plastic and the lid flexes if you sit on it which I don't like.
Asked by: Barb
I bought this last year and I LOVE it!! Who likes changing out toilet seats or tightening the bolts all the time? I don't. This was so easy to install - and if you ever need to completely clean your toilet bowl, it's so easy!! It is made of molded wood, is like a durable, finer particle board, then painted in enamel. Unless you have a plastic, or solid oak toilet seat, this is the kind you have been sitting on your whole life. VERY DURABLE. VERY INEXPENSIVE. My toilet tank handle (had a sharp corner on it) took a chip out of the paint, so I put some white caulking over it and placed a clear plastic dot on the handle. (The dots have an adhesive backing.) No more problems!!

Broken seat, return to store or manufacturer?

I just replaced this seat because previous one was loosing paint after several years of use. This Seat has split after one month of use by 160lb person. I purchased at Home Depot online. Should I return to Home Depot or to Bemis

I had a similar issue and called Bemis Customer Service and they promptly shipped me a new seat. The Customer Service Representative that I had was extremely courteous and helpful in resolving my issue.

How is this measured? When comparing with our current elongated seat (American Standard), this length seems too long.

Asked by: Anonymous
We have a 20 year old Fawn Beige toilet made by American Standard. This toilet seat that we purchased IS AMAZING AND THE TOILET LOOKS PERFECT AND BRAND NEW. If you have an elongated toilet made by American Standard - you should have no problem with this product.

Very inexpensive compared to others, easy installation, solid, stays in place, prefer these hinges over others I have tried to include no slam hinges. Had an issue with the finish dulling and disintegrating but nothing that concerned me. With 190 lbs sitting on it, it just split on the left side. New years resolution to lose 10 lbs. Should have lasted longer.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good buy I purchased this seat as I previously had Bemis easy clean. I had stained it with Lysol by mistake . The mark didn't happen to go. After scrubbing got worst. That's the reason I ordered new. Happy with my purchase. Only caution - clean the seat with wipes and be careful with any strong acidic cleansers like Lysol while use, as it will leave permanent marks .

I tried using youtube but they have instructions for several Bemis toilet seats. I am an 81 year old female who would have appreciated picture or any kind of instructions. Eventually I figured it out. It is slightly larger than my toilet but I can't complain since the price was right.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gets it done. Didn't come with instructions, so you're on your own there. I found that to install attach the bolts to the toilet, unlock the toilet seat, place the seat fittings over the bolts and then lock the seat in place. It's not rocket science, but it seems counter-intuitive to those of us who are used to attaching one thing to another. I bought this for a Toto Drake based on some reviews. The contact points rest on the bowl, but the front of the seat hangs over, so if you like a clean line you'll probably want to stick with the Toto version.

It was sooo easy to place on the toilet, and we were really surprised to see how easy it is to remove to thoroughly clean the base. It was a Christmas gift from my hubby - the clerk at the Home Depot rolled her eyes at him and said, "You really don't get how this gifting stuff works!" We all had a good laugh over that. When I told her I really was thrilled, as it completed our bathroom make-over, she said that is Home Depot's idea: to help its customers achieve their goals.

We ordered these a couple of weeks ago to replace the seats on 2 of our toilets. I measured and compared to our current wood Bemis toilet seats and they fit perfectly. The builder had used these Bemis wood seats for Kohler toilets and after 16 years it was time to replace them. We wanted wood vs. plastic which these are. Note: No instructions came in the boxes - we found installation instructions online. The caps were a little tricky to twist until we found it was easier than we thought.

I'm 73 years old and have replaced or installed a few toilet seats in the various houses I have owned. Installation has never been hard except in the old days when the anchors were metal and rusted. This seat was a breeze. But what I like best is the locking feature. The seat can be removed in seconds for thorough cleaning of the top of the bowl. After cleaning it is just as easily reinstalled. Two quick twists of the locking mechanisms and you're done.

Love that the seat is a color (silver, but actually more like light gray). This seat comes in many more colors, which is great. White can be boring! The seat is well made and solid, not flimsy as so many of the plastic ones. It fits very well and is comfortable to sit on. Of course, one of the drawbacks with a wood seat is that they do stain. That is the only negative to it.
