So I purchased these lights 3 years ago. We put them up the first year and 1 of the 10 strands went half dead. We were so annoyed that we spent so much money that we didn't bother to hang them last year. My husband convinced me to try them again this year so we tested the 9 that we had left, they all worked. We hung them yesterday and upon arriving from home from work sure enough another set it half dead. It's not a fuse, we checked and did all the troubleshooting.
I'm thankful that I didn't buy another string like we planned on. Skip this product all together.

Bought 5 sets of these last year and have to say they have worked fine all last year during holidays and this year so far. Haven't had any defective strands or bulbs. My only complaint is the cost of the lights which is why I gave 4 stars. I would buy more to cover the sides of my house but just don't want to spend the $$ as I would have to get another 8 strands. They look much better than traditional iceicle lights!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Jim Great idea, poor performance
Between Dec. 2013 and Nov. 2014, I purchased 9 sets of these lights from HD. We were looking forward to enjoying the combination of warm white icicles and the shooting star icicles along 68 linear feet of roof line.
I installed the lights on 11/29/14, and the day after Christmas, 7 sets of lights stopped working.
On 11/28/15, I took the sets out of storage and began trouble shooting the strings. Note that even after contacting Gemmy (manufacturer/importer), I was unable to locate enough spare bulbs to replace those that had failed. The failure was caused by bulb leads (wires) breaking due to what appeared to be rust/corrosion inside the socket. After cannibalizing bulbs from other strings, I was only able to make 4 of the original 9 strings operational again.
I would feel differently about the product if I had paid $7 for each string, but at $29 plus sales tax, I am very unhappy about the quality of the product.

These lights are pricey, but beautiful. We purchased two sets of them 3 years ago in Rochester, NY. They withstood two holiday seasons in snowy, cold, upstate NY, before we moved to Portland. One additional season in Portland, and they are still going strong. I do wish you could buy longer strands, however.

You better buy extra strands because when one goes out it's difficult to use the remaining ones unless you can find more srands still in the store. After all kinds of troubleshooting the bad strand with a bulb & circuit tester and replacing fuses we gave up.
