Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Repeated Lighting Flashes Cause Fixture Failure I have purchased several of these fixtures for two different homes. I like the look, the power consumption and the bulb longevity. I use these fixtures at two homes. The home with the highest frequency of lightning flashes in an evening requires that the fixtures be replaced on a periodic basis. The fixture shuts down the lamp on a lightning flash when dark and then restarts. If another lighting flash occurs, the fixture again shuts down. It does not take very many lighting flashes to cause a fixture failure. I am seeking replacement from LOA and will return the defective units to them for investigation of the ballast and starting circuit. July 12, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not worth a dollar Horrible, went out after 2 nights, called electrician and thought either the photo electric cell or a board went bad, total loss $165 dollars including the fixture and electrician charge August 26, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Lasted 2 weeks, going back. I had high hopes for this fixture. If closely matched the other fixtures at my facility. Installation was a snap, and I was thrilled when I finally had a light back where I wanted it. Two weeks later it is dead. A close examination of the "guts" revealed very light weight components (transformer looked undersized, light sensor was tiny and mounted on a plastic stalk. Oh well, guess I go with my original plan of gutting the old fixture and mounting a standard socket for a CFL. July 26, 2015

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by pretty good for an inexpensive light I was skeptical at first since these light are a semi light weight plastic, and light in weight. These lights use a switching power supply and not a transformer ballast/starter, which is why they weigh so much less. It is supposed to be grounded to the electrical box fixture and includes a cross bar and collar to do so, but the problem is the plate intended to be the grounding conductor is an entirely painted surface, no bare metal, so using it as ground is really ineffective. In reality and practicality, you can connect just the 2 power wires and be done. For mounting i just used a few drywall screws through the holes pre-existing holes molded into the back of the housing in the bulb area. Pros: nice light for the price, appears to be more reliable than the $80 similar fixture (that we have several failing around the complex) at store level. Easy to install, using drywall screws in the convenient already existing holes in the bulb reflective area. 3 or 4 screws will do the trick. Cons: it can be a little loose (not as tightly mounted) at the top half of the light since there is no way to screw or tighten the top half down. otherwise its a pretty good light for the money, lighter, hopefully more reliable with the electronic ballast verses the old transformer one which are going out where I live. time will tell. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Provides good lighting for good price Have purchased several of these HPS lights over the years for dusk to dawn security around the house. Bulid seems to have gotten cheaper over time, but price has dropped somewhat as well. Purchased two in Dec 2014, didno't install until Feb died beginning of this month (May). So, I guess the cheaper build comment is accurate. Was after Home Depot's 90 return policy, but LOA deos have 2 yr warranty --although from what I read, have to ship entire unit back for them to make repair/replace decision. The PCB inside has a burn mark on it - short?? Anyway, would still recommend, decent product for the price. Worth it for providing lighted drive and entrance for wife/daughter at night. May 29, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Light works as advertised; good value This light was very easy to install. In addition, it truly is vandal resistant. It is manufactured from sturdy plastic. Also the mounting bracket is located low in the light which means that the entire unit winds up being mounted higher on the wall than other lights that I've used. This helps prevent tampering. A previous light that I bought and installed was vandalized beyond repair about a month ago. I installed this more resistant light, and didn't know if it would last even one night. However, so far so good. I believe that this light's combination of sturdy design and high wall mounting is causing the local juvenile delinquents in my neighborhood to leave it alone.
