Does this one direct replace Verilux CFML27VLX

Asked by: Nink
Appears to be same but would not plug into bulb socket on my Verilux floor lamp. However, I used a Dremel tool to remove 1/8" of the plastic guide on each side. You can see this if you carefully compare the old and new bulbs. It then plugged in with no problem. Working fine and I am using it to write this review.

6 in. U-SHAPE 27-Watt Linear Fluorescent Light Bulb is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 64.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Incorrect lamp base This bulb does not have the correct base, to fit Verilux CFML27VLX socket. When searching for the Verilux CFML27VLX lamp this model comes up. The glass bulb actually broke and cut my finger when trying to insert it into the socket.

There are now several brands of the replacement lamp for the goose-necked floor lamp of Chinese manufacture. All appear to emit the same even, bright, white light, which I find excellent for reading and such. So I decided to buy two of the cheapest this time (one of which is this model); they are equally good and, so far, reliable. Why have I needed to replace them so often? Not because the light doesn't last long enough, but because of a VERY ANNOYING DESIGN/ MANUFACTURE PROBLEM IN THE FLOOR LAMP ITSELF: THE CLIP-IN INTERFACE OF THE REPLACEMENT LAMP WITH THE SOCKET IS NOT SECURE ENOUGH. THE SLIGHTEST BUMP CAN DISLODGE IT, AND AFTER YOU'VE SWEPT UP THE BROKEN GLASS YOU NEED TO BUY ANOTHER LAMP. I have resorted to placing a couple of rubber bands around the head of the fixture. Someone should find out how to contact the manufacturer(s) ASAP (I've tried and failed). Apart from this (!) I'm very satisfied.

The cost of this bulb can seem like sticker shock; however, my first one lasted a l-o-n-g time. Long time as in years, and it is used daily for hours. Personally, I like the true (outside) light from this bulb. The price is worth it, if it works as long as the previous bulb.

I incorrectly believed that this light bulb was an exact replacement for my existing Verilux Model VD01 Desk Lamp. It absolutely is not; it is simply incompatible, and I wasted $13 buying this bulb in my haste to replace the burned-out Verilux 27W bulb.

Well, it's like any office tube light -- a little dim on one end when you first turn it on, but then it becomes fully lit and very bright all across the unit. Nice, even color, and a new one is always an improvement over an old one.
