Answer:
No. Ive been welding for 25yrs and never even heard of such a thing. All aluminum must be shielded with an inert gas such as argon or helium to shield the weld from the surrounding atmoshere. Unless your stick welding or in some cases like brazing it with a torch rig which is rare and only used on thin aluminum. And the stick welding produces usually ugly welds also.

Andy,
Yes, the Lincoln Electric Innershield NR-211-MP Flux-Cored Self-Shielded (FCAW-S) wire will work with the Weld Pak 125HD welder. The welder comes ready to accomodate .025 - .035 rolls. You can find it in Home Depot stores with model numbers ED030584, ED031448 (1LB) and ED033130, ED016354 (10lb)

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Cheap aluminum welder Impossible to work with aluminum... Can't believe Home Depot sell this. February 17, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Does the job The wire was of excellent quality. The bad con to it was, very pricey for what your getting. I later turned around and bought the same wire from my local welding supply house, for almost half the price. June 23, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Worked great for me This alu+silicon wire is designed for use in MIG welding, but I needed it as a structural element - a thin rigid wire that keeps its shape well, but has minimal elasticity (bounce), Met all my expectations. July 28, 2012
