Answer:
Yes, it's literally a "plug-n-play" 240v (aka: "220") 3-prong (NEMA 6-50P) welder, complete with the "stinger" and work clamp (ground). One just needs to buy their own welding mask, gloves and protective shirt, wire brush, chipping hammer, clear safety glasses (wear under the hood) and electrodes.

I have never seen nor found Home Depot to carry a welders extension cord. You can google it and find online specialty stores that sell welders electrical cords.

Rudy, We do not sell an extension cable like the one you are asking about, but I do have a recommended electrode and work cable sheet that I could e-mail to you if you like. Please contact me at marilyn_rhoades@lincolnelectric.com. From the recommendations on the sheet you should be able to find what cable is required.

Lincoln Electric lists in the owner's manual that a 50A breaker is required for this machine. From personal experience, I'd highly recommend a 50A breaker as the MINIMUM sized needed for all 240V (aka "220") welders anyway. A 30A "clothes dryer" (240v) breaker (3-prong) could be used, provided the machine is never set on its upper to maximum amperage settings. For AC amperage settings on this welder, one Read More

A 30A "clothes dryer" (240v) breaker (3-prong) could be used, provided the machine is never set on its upper to maximum amperage settings. For AC amperage settings on this welder, one might be able to weld at around 105-115A and around 75A DC, with a 30A breaker. However, that practice is not recommended. Read Less

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 40 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Years of reliable service I borrowed one years ago and when the owner needed it back I was so addicted to it I had to buy my own. This was about 1980 and I use it several times per week. It has always performed flawlessly. The only flaws are no wheels, either buy the kit or add your own. I made a small cart for mine. And the fact that the ground cable is short. That is also easily rectified. I made a 50 foot extension cord for the power so I could wheel it anywhere in the shop with ease. Most of the time I weld 1/8" to 2" thick steel, always in DC mode. I've welded aluminum & cast iron with it several times with great results. I'm sure I could also weld stainless but have never needed to. I've even taught many beginners to weld with this machine and it handles abuse with ease. Can't go wrong with this one. March 6, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Just what the Dr. ordered! It got the job done without any problems. Sturdy and reliable. December 29, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Welder! I love my Lincoln Electric AC/DC 225/125. It's a great versatile machine, reliable as all get out and gets the job done right. With Lincoln electrodes, there's not much you can't do without this welder. I'm so loyal to this machine that I didn't bother upgrading to an Idealarc 250 because I was so satisfied with my AC/DC 225/125. Everything the other reviewers said is absolutely true. The bottom line is that this is a machine that always gets the job done and never lets you down. It's worth every penny. Given that Lincoln Electric machines are so well built, it's not uncommon to see 30 year old AC/DC 225/125's still working perfectly. Definite 5 stars! June 15, 2011
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Price I read the reviews before purchase and was a little hesitant but finally purchased. This is a great buy probably saved 350.00. I contacted HD and they informed me it was a new welder not refurbished and it did have a small dent or 2 in cowling but a dead blow hammer straightened right into place. Don't know why they had such a great price I am sure there is a story behind it but for a welder that will sit in a shop you can't go wrong. Came quickly delivered to house excellent contact with HD personnel. Plus I received 12 months interest free to pay off, If you know your welding you will know this is a great buy. December 25, 2012

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good welder at great price Don't buy the insurance. I bought an old welder, plugged it in and rebuilt a trailer. I used an Idealarc 250 for years that burned in a shop fire. Not as good a welder as the 250 but is completely satisfactory for most repair work and is much more cost effective for light weekend use. Plan to build a light trailer this winter. October 18, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Expensive but worth every penney. easy to install and worked great. Just what I wanted and will be used a lot. September 16, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best welder for the money on the market. HD has best price! I have been welding a little here and there for 35 years. Finally I have a welder that really makes beautiful welds every time! Arc strikes easily and just works perfectly. First project was extending a boat trailer 4 feet at the tongue and 4 feet at the tail and build a 8 x 8 deck on the front for a couple quad runners. Two days, a dozen 3/32" 7018 rods, 420# of steel welded on to the frame and I have the perfect do it all trailer to haul up to the lake and explore the back country trails. July 10, 2012
