Most definitely not,, This unit is strictly a "stick welder" primarily for steel, Not Aluminum Aluminum must either be Mig / or Tig welded using a shielding gas such as Argon -This unit has been around for many, many years and it's design hasn't changed at all - My personal opinion is the amp setting dial only does segment adjustments where by one setting may be too low, or too high, One cannot dial in or fine tune the amp setting between any two settings - Advise using E7014 electrodes as a welding wire rod , no more than 3/16 dia - Need a helmet with a lens grade of #10 ,, a higher number than 10 will be hard to see what your doing,, or a digital lens helmet where you can set the darkness shade , But there expensive - Advise that you try to weld with someone who's got a welding machine ( call it a warm up, practice session) first !! Any weld shop should welcome you as a first timer to try it out (I know I would) - Be cognizant that any welding is a sure fire hazard

Can I plug this into a residence dryer outlet?

Asked by: Anonymous
If it's the right plug configuration,, and the right volt / amperage capacity I don't see why not -- But don't plan on doing anything with this, anywhere inside the house, condo,, townhouse,, apartment ,, garden shed,,chicken coup ! ! ! ! -- Arc welding (stick welding) is an extremely large Fire Hazard

what do they mean by fuse? are they meaning 50amp breaker as in the home breaker box

Asked by: Anonymous
YES ,,, to your question,,,, I believe you can fire this up with 40 Amps as a minimum -- But I do not want to skip over what the spec sheet says as it's input power needed as a 50 amp fuse/breaker -- fuse or breaker believe to be referred to as the same -- Now be advised that you need to be aware of FIRE hazards if your gunna fire this mach up, and start welding inside your garage,,,or anywhere for that matter (this is clearly a large issue)

AC225S Arc Welder is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 36.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lincoln AC 225 I've been a welder all my life. I went into management for a period of app 28 yrs and sat on the sidelines as the younger guys did the welding. Now semi retired I found myself needing a welder. I went back to the welder I first used when I was 15 yrs old ! The Lincoln AC 225. It's 5 star. It'll do the work. And I haven't forgot how to weld ! It'll weld 7018 LH rods, 7014, 6011. And it does an excellent job. It's not a $5000 machine, but I don't need one. I highly recommend it. Knowing how to weld is not a plus: its detrimental. Much to the chagrin of some, it takes a "weldor", not a "welder" to be able to weld. You young guys out there: get 2 yrs of welding school under your belt. Get certified. You'll NEVER be out of a job ! And then get this Lincoln. In your spare time people will line up to get you to fix something for them.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Can't fine tune The welder is great but the only down side is you can't fine tune the amps. You can only weld with the pre selected amps that are shown on the welder.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple, powerful, quality and great value. I purchased this welder from my local Home Depot and it exceeded my expectations. You can't find a better value anywhere. Straight forward layout. Strikes an arc with ease. Built to last. It's everything you'll ever need to do most welding projects and it won't suck your wallet dry. This is Lincoln's best selling model of all time...and if you purchase one you'll see why. Novice or'll be very pleased. Nowadays it's hard to find a good quality product that does the job it was intended to do and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Kudos to Lincoln and Home Depot. Would recommend this welder in a heartbeat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product at a reasonable price. Welder does a great job around my ranch. Just the right size for my needs. Even welded 5/8 steel with surprisingly good results. Easy to use. Burns stick after stick with no issue. Highly recommended.
