will this fit my weld pak 125hd?

i bought this as the homedepo website list my weldpak 125HD to work with this kit. the instructions are showing a different drive unit? the roller seem to be smaller than what is inplace already so im abit confused. is there a way to use this? will even the gun liner fit or am i out 85$? thanks for the replys back
Asked by: Jimmy
This was a reply from lincoln: The WP125 with the gas kit installed uses a spool gun, K3269-1 to weld aluminum. It does not use the older K664-2 feeding kit. Don't do what I did and wast 90$ because your welder is listed to work on homedepot website and sold as so.

Will this work with my Pro-MIG 135 ?

Asked by: Madreup
Yes it should, but you may be limited on thickness of metal welding due to the lower amperage rate. You will have to convert to argon gas to weld with the aluminum wire.

will this kit work with the weld pak 180 hd

Asked by: 1234
It would depend on which version of the 180 HD you have. Your manual will give you the correct kit to use.

Aluminum Feeding Kit is rated 3.2 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't work Aluminum needs to be heated up a bunch to be welded, that's why tig works great. This kit makes your mig feed aluminum wire into an electric arc that melts the wire right away, but doesn't nearly deliver enough heat to melt the aluminum surface you're trying to weld. The design is bad and it doesn't work. Spend the $ and buy a tig machine.

I installed one of these kits on my Pro-Mig 175 to try my hand at welding aluminum. I've been welding steel for many years. This kit was easy to install, and since you're using the same gun, it has the same familiar feel as welding steel, so that's a plus. In the beginning it took a little time to get the settings right, temp, speed etc, but within an hour I was running beads on some 3/16 inch and 1/8 inch aluminum plate without any difficulties. I felt pretty confident with my welds and they way they were coming out. First, I ran a few beads on flat stock to get the feel. Then I tried several samples at different settings on lap joints, corner joints, butt joints, etc. all with great results. Confidence was building and then it happened, the dreaded "bird nest" at the roller as the wire enters the sleeve. I tried everything I could to rectify the problem. I reset the roller and pressure, checked and cleaned the liner, tip, and diffuser to see if anything was causing an obstruction. I started in again it would weld for a minute or two then bird nest again. I made sure the cable and liner was straight when welding, I tried the various speeds I had experimented with. I even chamfered the back side of the contact tip smoother and moved the outer jacket as close to the rollers as possible to help eliminate any open space from the rollers to the feeder/liner. It came with the same results, would work for a few minutes then bird nest. I finally gave up and put it away thinking I would tackle it another day. I was not going to give up because I am certain that once I figure out why its doing the bird nest thing, it will be back to welding as it was when I first started. The welds looked great and when they were cleaned up they looked just a good as any steel weld I've done over the years. UPDATE: Soon after my experience with this kit, I got to use a neighbors spool gun setup and I was hooked! I'm not going to try and make this kit work. Instead I am going to get a spool gun and go that route. It is more expensive, but the simplicity of the spool gun was well worth it. If it hadn't been for the spool gun experience, I would still be working on making the Aluminum Feeding Kit work to my expectations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Aluminum Feeding Kit Not hard to install, had a little trouble with the non-metallic cable liner making the bend at the handle. After the install, it took me a few days to get the hang of it, but it all changed when I exchanged the gas to 100% Argon. Over all I would recommend this kit over any other expensive kit, unless you plan to do a lot of aluminum welding. This kit was installed on a Weld Pack 100 Purchased at Home Depot around 10 years ago, and this welder is now even more versatile with this Aluminum Feeding Kit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Takes time to learn how to weld aluminum. Great price to switch over to weld aluminum. Very easy install. Here is the best TIP. When you are ready to weld UNSPIN the SPOOL (6 or 8 spins just before it starts to unrap off the spool) so the welder does not have to pull the wire off the spool with tension. Do this and then you will NOT have to have the line to the gun perfectly straight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from DO NOT WELD ALUMINUM WITHOUT THIS KIT I have been using my welder like a mig for steel on aluminum and it has been very difficult. With the steel set up, aluminum will bunch up at the feeding wheels and you will have to cut and pull out the mess then pull the wire from the cable. The kit is a huge time saver and also saves lots of wire from being wasted. The kit does seem very expensive for just a liner, wheel, few tips and an extra roll of wire, but try welding aluminum without it and you will be back on here hitting the check-out button. This kit will make your little welder weld just as good as a spool gun without the weight of holding up the spool gun and getting it to tight places.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from K664-2 kit unusable with SP-135 Plus I was disappointed to find that the plastic guide tubes in this kit do not fit as replacements for the steel guide tubes, and the drive roll is for 5/16" shaft that accepts set screw, rather than the 3/8" shaft with key on my SP-135 Plus.
