Customer Questions & Answers

Can this propane torch kit be modified to add a piezo-type igniter.

I have seen homemade brush burners like this one with push button igniter, like is found on a typical gas BBQ grill. Home Depot sells a Brinkman model like this: Brinkmann Universal Push Button Igniter Model # 812-7221-S Has anyone actually installed one of these, and if so, is it reasonably simple? Simple to me = not requiring any welding skills. A better question would be "Can a caveman do it?". Thanks.
Asked by: Pyroguy
We advise you to not install one of these starters on an Inferno.

Is there a difference in propane tanks connections?

I have previously used my propane torch with much success. But when I changed tanks, I now cannot get any propane to flow through wand. My grill works fine with the tank, but not the torch. Can I purchase a different attachment for the hose moe like a grills female instead of the torches male adapter? Or do I need to test all tanks before I purchase them?

There is a safety reducer that will slow the flow to almost nothing in the event the pressure changes too quickly. After you connect to the tank open the tank valve slowly. I got this information from the instructions and experienced this problem myself.

What kind of propane tank is needed for this unit? How long will it run on a tank?

Asked by: Anonymous
You can use the same kind of tank as the one you would connect to your propane gas grill.

Length of Wand

Have read the product specs but am having trouble finding wand length. In other words, if I am holding the handle what is the reach of the wand?
Asked by: Gerri
I didn't measure it, but I'd say about 3 ft.

inferno torch kh825 not lighting

Propane is flowing based on sound and smell. Everything appears to be working per instruction manual and youtube videos. The provided lighting device makes sparks. Yet no flame will ignite. Please provide guidance.
Asked by: Nate
You have to depress the lever on the handle to make the gas. Also, when you turn on the propane tank on turn the valve slowly. If you have further questions call 1-866-236-0044 option 2.

Customer Reviews

Inferno Propane Torch Kit is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 126.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A weed burning beast! The Inferno propane torch took a little getting used to. At first I was holding the torch too close to my driveway, which caused the flame to extinguish due to lack of oxygen. Once I figured this out, it made short work of a large overgrown garden patch. This this thing sounds like a jet engine! One note - SLOWLY open the valve to your propane tank. The unit has a valve to prevent rapid pressure changes, a safety feature. If you open the tank valve too quickly it will prevent the unit from working. I'm guessing they did this to prevent people from turning this into a flamethrower.

If you have difficultly lighting it try turning the gas way down. The valve on the tank needs to be just barely cracked for it to work well. I am sad to report that this product does not do so well for combating grass burrs. The grass burrs seem to survive the heat better than the surrounding grass you want to keep. But I am happy to report that the product in the following link works very well for combating grass burrs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Torch If you are not hearing a sound like a jet fighter engine ... you opened the propane tank too much Crack the tank just a little and then open the valve on the torch a little .... press the trigger and you will hear a jet noise light the flame and adjust the force of the flame I made the mistake of cracking the tank too much and the flame was like a dozen bics - this means the safety valve on the tank has kicked in If the torch is working properly the neighbors will complain about the noise and you will think you are in a Mad Max movie I cannot underestimate how important it is too crack the propane tank just a little!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Maui, HI Like some others I too had problems lighting this thing. After reading instructions in depth on google this thing is very powerful. You only need to open your propane valve slightly and turn the adjustment valve on the torch shaft about 1/8 of a turn. Squeezing the torch trigger slowly you'll hear and feel the rush of the 500,000 BTUS and see its power upon lighting it. Works well on weeds and lights a charcoal hibachi in seconds. Great product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great torch The torch worked perfectly and the instructions were very clear. Spent about 3 hours in the yard cleaning up problem areas and barely used any LP.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Flame on It works as planned I was looking for a longer hose so I can work with it a little farther away from the propane tank.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Propane Burner Worked as indicated, follow instructions. Did a good job on weeds, much cheaper than weed killer.
