Customer Questions & Answers

Is this welder sufficient for car restoration or would I need a more powerful model

Asked by: Anonymous
This welder should be fine for car restoration. Most of which is welding 20-22 gauge sheet steel and some heavier (less than 3/16) frame steel. You can use the same gas that a MIG welder uses too. Lincoln welders are very durable and this unit can work from 120v if you don't have 220v availability. If you're not proficient with TIG welding, I strongly suggest lots of practice on the same metal you're going to weld before working on your project car. : ) Car body welding is done at low amperage 50 amps or even less, and chassis welding you might use as much as 130 or so amps (thick stuff). HINT: Look for the puddle to add a drop of the weld rod when TIG. You can see the arc and aim it where you need it. Go you tube for TIG welding. Good Luck with your project, and have fun.

Invertec V155-S TIG Ready-Pak Welder is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Handy and light! Not the most industrial unit they offer but is perfect for what its designed for. Throw it on your shoulder and go ... A great all in one kit for the money. Could have a bit more adjustability for the ARC settings but ... You can not beat the Lincoln 3 year wanintee
