Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by sofabike Easy to weld.
I learned how to weld with it in 2 times.
Practising about 1 hour at a time.
Never have-had weld with MIG welders, but do have over 30years expirience with stick-welding.
It was very easy to set all settings and cables.
The only problem weld-gun is too heavy, but I was able to weld with left hand too.
Anyway I've got it for easy bicycles fabrication as a hobby.
Picture with sezors show my weld. The place in betwing sezors is weld without argon. Just made dummy expiriment. So sure 100% Argon needed

Got this for my dad to weld up all our aluminum Jon boats that had cracks. We use it with a Lincoln 140 unit and so far everything has been working flawlessly.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by PTA1 Usable spool gun
The spool gun works well with aluminum. I like 5356 instead of the 43xx it comes with. It adapts to thin metal better for me.
I read reviews before I bought this. Keep an eye of the tension on the spool. If it is too loose, it will bird cage. Other than that, no quality problems.
It is an easier way to weld aluminum. Keep in mind that aluminum needs to be very clean to weld nicely.
And have plenty of metal around to practice on.

I'm an electrician by trade and have some welding background with steel but a recent project at work required aluminum welding. I had never done this before but purchased the spool gun and did a little research on line for tips on aluminum welding then proceeded to do the project. The spool gun worked great and I was able to weld 1/2" aluminum plate together with no issues at all. I've included a few pics of the welds I did. One of these shows the side that had to be smooth so I used a grinder but it shows the welds are solid. Since I don't know how to downsize my pics I guess I won't post the. Sorry.
