Asked by: frustrated
These are the units that can be upgraded, generally they cannot. Pro Core 125 (Code 11300 only), Weld Pak125HD (Code 11302 only), Easy Core 125 (Code 11503 only), Work Pak 125 (Code 11506 only), Core Pak 125 (Code 11550 only). This kit will NOT work on the following units as they cannot be converted to use gas: Pro Core 125 (Code 11631), Weld Pak 125HD (Code 11632), Easy Core 125 (Code 11633), Work Pak 125 (Code 11638), Core Pak 125 (Code 11639)

can this welder be plugged into a household outlet

Asked by: Anonymous
yes, just don't use an extension cord if you can help it. If you do have to use extension cord use a heavy gauge one no longer than 10 ft. for best results.

should i use a face shield for this unit .

New to welding not sure if i need a shield
Asked by: Robert
Always use a welding hood with at least a number 10 lense. It only take a small exposure to get flash burn on your eyes which is extremely painful.

Weld Pak 125 HD Wire-Feed Welder is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 46.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from It's pretty good I've been welding off and on for long time now. Spent 14 yrs as a welder. I've used a lot of big good welders, 800amp industrial welders, 300amp shop welders and a few home welders. I've used miller, Lincoln and Hobart. This little welder is pretty good for 110v welder. My only issue was that at full capacity the over heat protection would kick on and shut down the machine. I have found a safe way around the very low duty cycle. I got a 100$ floor drying fan and mounted it to the back of the machine and sealed it up best I could. With over 100 times the volume, and bout 30 times the speed of air going through the machine to keep it cool if can now weld at full capacity as long as I need to. I haven't done any real testing yet, but as far as I can tell the duty cycle is around 100%. Now with such a high duty cycle I don't think I'll have any need for a bigger welder.

I bought this welder a couple years ago with the intention of using it but had put it off due to lack of experience. But the other day i reviewed everything I could find on the unit and decided now was as good as any to learn to weld. I found it extremely easy to set up and use and I am using it nearly everyday now to weld different things that need repairs around my house and barn. This is an excellent product for the money. What a nice addition to my tool collection for use in practically any situation around my home. I am very impressed with the quality and ease of set up and use with this machine!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Nice Starter / Small Utility Welder My family bought this welder for use in building railings for a deck. Both my brother and I had previous welding experience. We each spent several hours using this welder. Our materials ranged from 3/8-inch cold rolled round to 1/8-inch thick x 2-inch tube to 1/4 x 2-inch hot rolled bar. Setting up was easy, and the pictorial and graphic set-up aids on the welder were quite useful in selecting heat settings and feed rates. We found it easy to over-tighten the feed roller, thereby smashing the wire and stopping the feed. Once we got the feeder adjusted correctly, the project went smoothly. When the wire ran out, feeding a new spool was bit of a learning experience. The wire would not always start into the hole in the feed cable. The cable had to be disconnected and the wire manually threaded into the hole in the tube. Then the cable could be reconnected and the wire fed the rest of the way using the feeder. This takes about 5 minutes, which is a drag. We tried re-trimming the wire end, twisting it, and shaking the end lightly, but to no avail. I didn't expect this, as another welder (same model) we rented did not have this problem. Did something change in the design perhaps, or is the unit we bought just a bit more finicky? Not sure, but we adapted to the idiosyncrasies quickly. The weld quality is acceptable. Penetration was good. Splatter and slag buildup were tolerable, and about what you'd expect from a non-gas welder. We got our sizable project done quickly. It looks nice, is strong, and we saved ourselves thousands of dollars in the process. This nice little welder will be on hand to help with a host of other projects. I'm impressed with the overall quality and usefulness.

It took less than 10 minutes to put together and then it was ready to go. Welded two items with it right away and it worked perfect. I liked that you plug it in and is ready to go. Dont have to hook it up to gas. I used it twice and it did everything I wanted to do. One was on thinner metal and the other on a thicker metal and it worked on both.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lincoln wire feed welder Does a good job. The problem is it welds for 15 minutes then shuts off for 30 minutes to cool. I was told this was a safety feature which is a good deal but not for a big job. This would be a good machine for around the house small projects.

Duty cycle lasted long enough to handle what I was doing (fixing my various trailers). I didn't have to wait for it to cycle down and cool off. I had no problems with the wire feed getting stuck. It worked perfect!
