Customer Questions & Answers

how do i remove the lense to replace the bulbs

i do not have anny instruction manual
Asked by: Anonymous
It pretty much just slides in. The lens is slightly smaller than the length of the unit. Shift the lens towards one end or the other and the opposite end should pop right out.

Do you carry the ballest for this fixture? Is it still in warranty?

I purchased 2 of these fixtures 10/20/12 at your Home Depot. The electrician tested the one that stopped working and said the ballast was bad.
Asked by: rusty
If you still have these, look into Toggled LED's that bypass the ballast altogether. Fairly easy to install.

I put three of these up in my kitchen about two and a half years ago and two of the three ballasts went out in the past week. If you have one of these and the ballast gives out, instead of buying all new fixtures, or waiting for new ballasts which might fail, you can get 48" Toggled LED bulbs for about $15 a piece(Home Depot has them). These bypass the ballast and are directly wired at one end. They're pretty easy to install and there are videos to guide you through it. The light quality is better than fluorescents and they'll never go buzzy/flicker. You'll also save a good bit on electricity since they're only 16 watts.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Won't buy again Cracked lens in the box, bent end cap. Installed anyway, didn't want the hassle of a return. Used in Laundry room. Ballast went out less than a year, had flickering issues within a short time. You have to contact Lithonia for repair parts and ballast as it's no off the shelf item. Waiting for Lithonia to contact me for a lens and ballast replacement. Lithonia used to be a great product, maybe because it went to China is why it degraded the way it has...even in the commercial versions of their product took a dive.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from not reliable We had this light for several months installed in a laundry room. It would go out on us most of the time for no apparent reason.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stay away! Home Depot should not be carry something this bad. I put this product in my utility room about 18 months ago. It often does not turn on and the bulbs go out every six months. I was about to call an electrian thinking I had a wire or switch problem. Then I read the other reviews and realized everyone was having the same problem.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from no one knows how to order the diffuser lens had to replace bulbs and the cover broke, no one knows how to order replacement diffuser and the ones home depot has in stock do not fit. the customer service desk was no help at all, only suggestion was to buy new light fixture.....................................................

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointing Is it just me or does anybody else see less quality in lighting fixtures these days. I needed more light in my laundry area and knew a 4ft florescent would work best. This fixture was easy to install and I used new GE T8 bulbs. From the beginning I had to play with the switch to get it to come on and often it wouldn't. Replacing the switch did not help. After 1 year of this nonsense I debated replacing the fixture or just the ballast. Chose the ballast due to cost and either way I was going to get stuck with one made in China or Mexico. After replacing the ballast I still had the same problem. I put up with it for another year and tried replacing the bulbs with Phillips T8. The light came on instantly. I know GE quality has gone down over the years but I would think new bulbs should act like they are new. So now if the temperature is above 75 degrees and the humidity is under 60% in that room every thing is fine. If those conditions aren't met then I still have to play with the switch.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not waste your money nice looking product but poor quality Cover fell off and shattered like an egg in an empty house. DO NOT BUY. I wish I had read the reviews prior to purchasing. Good luck finding a replacement lens for this product. Home Depot should REFUND everyone who purchased this product.
