Answer:
Yes, it comes with an electronic ballast installed. You only have to connect the Hot, Neutral, and Ground coming out of the ceiling, the rest is pre-wired.

Answer:
Yes its an electronic ballast. If you use a motion detector you need one with a relay inside, otherwise the lights will switch on and off - not being useful at all.

installation question - how to install over studs ?

The distance between the mounting holes is 44 1/16. How is it possible to install both sides on 16" studs ? Should I drill a new hole inside the fixture ? There is another hole that makes the distance between mounting holes about 30" - still less than the distance between standard studs.

Answer:
If the existing holes do not line up with your studs, you can either drill a hole through the metal where your stud is or use a toggle nut.

install issue - how do i install between studs ??

I bought this - but see what seems to be an installation design issue. The two mounting openings are 44 1/16 in apart - with a wiggle room of about 1/2 in. So even if I screw one end to a stud, given 16in standard, it will be almost 4" short of the third stud. I also see another hole - at about 30" making it 2" short. How is this designed to be held beween studs ? If not, is plain drywall enough support on one end ? (Would have liked basic mounting screws in the kit).

Thanks

Rated 3.3 out of 5 by 45 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by average product The product is very fragile and you have to be very careful to prevent damage, specially the wrap fixture August 23, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Fixture But No Replacement Ballast Available The fixture is attractive and provides good light output. The problem is the EnergyPro model# TKT8-32Wx2 ballast is not available as a replacement - even from Lithonia Lighting. The ballast is about 1-1/8" wide; much narrower than readily available replacement ballasts. If the ballast fails your options are to buy another complete fixture, or modify the ballast cover by cutting to allow a wider ballast to be mounted. January 8, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Do Not Buy I have purchased two of these fixtures and both have failed within a short period of time. It belongs in the trash. The first one lasted for about 6 months and the ballast failed. The second one lasted about a year with the same problem. May 12, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Fixture lights well; ballast poor quality but Robertson makes replacement We really enjoyed this light fixture -- until the ballast failed. Rather than throw out the fixture, we wanted to replace the ballast but it is no longer made and is a non-standard size -- more narrow and not as tall as others -- which means the ballast cover wouldn't fit unless one drilled out a hole in the metal. The ballast used is Energy Pro Model #TKT8-32Wx2 T8 120 V 60 H .99 amps. It is more narrow than the typical ballast for sale (e.g., GE), with dimensions of 1 1/8 W x 9 1/2 L x 1 inch tall. I read in other reviews that there were no substitute ballasts, but I have recently learned the ROBERTSON 3P20116 eBallast, Instant Start, NPF, 1 or 2 Lamp F32T8, 120Vac, 60 Hz, Model ISU232T8120 BA is the same size and will fit the fixture. I wish Home Depot stocked this ballast: neither HD nor the manufacturer knew about the substitute ballast. (I found this out after ordering an LED light for which the non-standard mounting brackets are missing. So now I have 2 non-working lights with non-standard parts here!) Hopefully it will be better quality than the Energy Pro ballast, too! If the ballast worked it would be an ok light. May 21, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by inexpensive light fixture instructions easy to understand. Could have been more installation materials included - how expensive are toggle screws to provide? Only concern is how long the "old" style tubes will be available. But this fit the need for now. Matched another fixture. Was hard to find in the stores, had to order online. Probably means no more available if this one quits for some reason. April 26, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed Hi I bought 3 units for my basement and had an electrician install the units. Now after a year, one unit both lights have burnt out. I have checked the unit to see how in the heck to remove the defuser cover without breaking it which is impossible to remove safely without cracking, etc. I have written the company, only to have no response. January 1, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by good purchase easy to install other than being 12 ft off the ground needed 3 hands to balance but got done within half hour November 4, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Disposable junk Waste of time and money. Lasts for abit but no replaceable parts, so overall it's a terrible value. Look elsewhere for value, otherwise as soon as anything goes wrong (and it will, and soon) then you have to buy an entire new fixture and uninstall and install a new fixture. Junk. February 16, 2016
