I bought this product unknowing that I wouldn't be able to plug it into an outlet. I believe it is hardwired to be attached through a light switch. Is there an adapter I can purchase or another method to solve this issue?

Seriously, if you don't have the knowledge to make this light a plug in unit you should hire or have some one with electrical knowledge to help you. You are working with electricity which can be harmful. I am a professional electrician and know injury from personal experience, even with only 120V.

Its clearly marked. Then twist the black wires together and do the same for the white wires...wire nut them together and TAPE them good! Stranded wire is not designed to be pushed into the plastic connectors provided with the fixtures. I would cut those plastic ends off. Here in Michigan you really need the high output fixtures in the winter. Well maybe in a million years when Climate change kicks in we will be able to use normal bulbs. But until then...buy the high output fixtures you'll be very happy with the outcome. They work when its COLD! Read Less

Answer:
You can add a power cord to the same way you would hard wire it. Just be sure to use a good wire clamp.

Yes. You'll need a three-prong power cord and a metal clamp that will clamp the cord in place where it goes thru the end of the fixture. I did this for my installation. Here's what I can remember of the steps I took:
1. Cut off the female end of the cord and separate the three wires from each other (keeping them in their insulation# for about 1 foot.
2. Strip the end of each of the three wires about 1/4

3. Pull out the center white metal strip to expose the inner workings of the lamp
4. Use a screwdriver to remove the knockout in the end you want to have the cord come out of
2. Place the clamp in the fixture and tighten the circular washer
3. Run the power cord thru the clamp
4. Insert the two outside wires in two different colored holes in the connector inside the light #Two holes are for the input and the other two are for an output that would go to another light#
5. Screw the center wire/ground wire #usually has a green cover) to the fixture
6. Tighten the clamp
7. Plug it in

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good lighting for the $$ Love the lights for output. Fixtures are Flimsy . Can't seem to get rid of the FM radio interference. So if you want to listen to the radio.... Don't use these.

Aside from the cheap Chinese construction, these are the worst product I have ever purchased, and I am not only a long-time DIY'er, but also an Electrical Engineer by profession. I purchased two of these FUN products with high hopes. After installing one of the lights and getting no illumination, and of course confirming I had power at the device. I tested the second light prior to installation, I rigged up a harness to test it, and no luck. These piles are going back! And there is no chance that I would recommend this product to anybody. If I could give them a lower score, I would. Good luck!

I bought this to replace a single bulb, 4 foot "high output" fixture under an awning outside where I work. The old fixture was past its prime and the short H.O. bulbs are tough to find. This fixture was in-stock and the bulbs were as well. It went up with no difficulty, starts in the cold weather just fine and is much, much brighter than the old fixture ever was. These T5 fixtures are still a little pricey, but they're coming down. They are well worth the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent These lights will blow you away. The amount of light they put out is really amazing especially for such a tiny fixture. Each 54 watt tube puts out 5000 lumins for a total of 10,000 for the fixture. Compare this to 1500 lumins for a standard 100 watt incandescent. Be aware that this is the fixture only, you have the buy the bulbs separately. Also the fixture itself is just your basic white bent up metal with no reflector, but it has a quality ballast that starts up immediately even in a cold garage. Installation is a snap, screw it to the ceiling, three wires and snap on the cover. Oh, and did I mention that it puts out an amazing amount of light? :)
