How would I plug this unit into a regular power outlet?

I bought this product unknowing that I wouldn't be able to plug it into an outlet. I believe it is hardwired to be attached through a light switch. Is there an adapter I can purchase or another method to solve this issue?

HOW DO THE RESIDENTIAL FIXTURES WORK IN COLD WEATHER, LIKE THE GARAGE? COLD WEATHER BALLAST REQUIRED?
Asked by: BOB
The old 1&1/2" diameter (T12) tubes only started good at 50 degrees, as printed on the ballast label. The newer 1" (T8) and 5/8" (T5) tubes start well at 0 or -20 degrees, as printed on their ballast. Mixing tubes with the wrong ballast will shorten tube life or not even start. Old high output T12s would also start in cold weather, but is a different ballast, again.

Does this fixture have a modern electronic ballast, or the old style magetic thing?

Asked by: Brent
It is nearly impossible to find any magnetic ballast in major stores. They are all electronic ballasts.

Aside from the cheap Chinese construction, these are the worst product I have ever purchased, and I am not only a long-time DIY'er, but also an Electrical Engineer by profession. I purchased two of these FUN products with high hopes. After installing one of the lights and getting no illumination, and of course confirming I had power at the device. I tested the second light prior to installation, I rigged up a harness to test it, and no luck. These piles are going back! And there is no chance that I would recommend this product to anybody. If I could give them a lower score, I would. Good luck!

I bought this to replace a single bulb, 4 foot "high output" fixture under an awning outside where I work. The old fixture was past its prime and the short H.O. bulbs are tough to find. This fixture was in-stock and the bulbs were as well. It went up with no difficulty, starts in the cold weather just fine and is much, much brighter than the old fixture ever was. These T5 fixtures are still a little pricey, but they're coming down. They are well worth the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent These lights will blow you away. The amount of light they put out is really amazing especially for such a tiny fixture. Each 54 watt tube puts out 5000 lumins for a total of 10,000 for the fixture. Compare this to 1500 lumins for a standard 100 watt incandescent. Be aware that this is the fixture only, you have the buy the bulbs separately. Also the fixture itself is just your basic white bent up metal with no reflector, but it has a quality ballast that starts up immediately even in a cold garage. Installation is a snap, screw it to the ceiling, three wires and snap on the cover. Oh, and did I mention that it puts out an amazing amount of light? :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A lot of light from a small fixture. We bought 4 two of the 2 light fixtures for our garage, which is a normal 2 car garage in a planned development. There is a support beam running through the garage, so we needed to put light on each side of the beam. The fixtures with the high output bulbs put out great light. It is like instant daylight. There is nothing negative about these. What I will say is that I probably could have used 4 of the one bulb fixtures and still had adequate light. My neighbor came over and said he was going to install them in his garage. I suggested the one bulb fixture to him, but he said he wanted it just like mine. So, the one or two bulb is a personal thing. The bulbs are $10 each, so that makes a difference. I don't think there was a big price difference between the 1 and 2 bulb fixtures. Now all I have to do is finish the garage clean up project, which includes hole patching and painting.
