I just replaced a light fixture in my suspended ceiling. I wanted As much headroom as I could get so My ceiling is only 7.5 inches from the joists and I was able to install the fixture just fine.

I would think the amount of room needed to be about 4" to allow for some maneuvering prior to drop in.

Answer:
First open the fixture of course. Then holding the bulb on both sides, push back towards the holding clip to disengage. Pull down gently on the clip and lift out the bulb. To install a new bulb, put the rounded end in the clip first. Push back towards the clip just enough the clear the edge of the fixture and the connectors. Push the bulb straight in.

Answer:
In order remove and replace the bulbs, you must first remove the lens. There should be latches on the frame; lift these latches to remove the lens.
To remove the bulbs, you rotate the bulb until it comes loose; from there, the bulb should slide out of its grooves.
To put in the new bulb, slide each end of the bulb (each end should have prongs sticking out) into the grooves of the socket; once in, Read More

Rated 3.5 out of 5 by 11 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best light ever I recommend this product because its very welcoming to your office February 16, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good inexpensive fixture OK, so I was a bit apprehensive about purchasing this fixture given the many negative comments herein. However, I've installed 4 of them to date without a single issue. Sure you can ding them on quality, what do you expect for a $40 fixture? The have sharp edged in places so you have to be careful not to cut your fingers during the installation. Other than that, they fit, the bulbs install easily and all 4 worked perfectly and provide excellent lighting. I appreciate the instant on feature and the fact that the fixture will work perfectly with just one bulb. My old fixtures wouldn't do that. December 28, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by AVOID Why buy a light fixture that Home Depot does not have bulbs for ?? You have to order the bulbs and pay shipping to get them Taking this back August 8, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great except for quality control With a functioning unit, this fixture provides excellent lighting. It has clean design lines, fits easily into a 2' x 2' square in a dropped ceiling, and the cover may be hinged either of two ways to make bulb changing easier. After we had installed the first unit, we discovered that only one of the two bulb positions would light a bulb. Since we then had to uninstall the fixture, drive to HD to buy another, install the second, and then return the first to HD, our experience was not as positive as it might have been. A contractor especially would not like the loss of time involved with replacing a defective unit. We did not just exchange the first unit since some of the work of installing it could be used with the second unit. August 15, 2011
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by not worth installing if free the bulb pins didn't fit into the electrical sockets right out of the box. Bought this to replace the previous one of the same model, which also failed to hold the bulbs in the electrical socket. October 19, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Works good Fit right, easy to connect, looks good. Don't know what else to say April 24, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Does the job Agree with the reviewer who wrote: "installing the U-Shape Bulb using the mid support (Hanger) is next to impossible." The unit was selected and installed by a contractor. Had I known about the problem with replacing the U-bulbs, I would not have accepted it. August 11, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Dissapointed Concerning Design Parameters A functional unit that provides excellent lighting in the ceiling. The unit drops into a ceiling grid as intended and is almost attractive. However installing the U-Shape Bulb using the mid support (Hanger) is next to impossible. We drilled and screwed the support in place after installing the bulb. July 24, 2013
