Yes, you can direct wire it. Just remember to use 12-2w/ground wire.

Baldy (and others) asked the difference between T8 And T12 tubes. Think in octavos - that is 1/8ths. So then T8 = 8 eighths or 1 inch, while T12 = 12 eighths, yes, 1-1/2" pretty basic once you know the lingo.

Folks these will last a very long time if you simply open and remove ballast. Wire each end directly (one end neutral (white) and the other end line (black or red). Ignore any ballast wire colors, Then use ONLY LED fluorescents. A fraction of the energy of even a T8, no waste energy lost to heat from ballast, and typically twice the lumen output of a florescent. You will never change a ballast or bulb again. Yes, some LED tubes will run on some T8 ballasts, but why lose the energy of the unneeded ballast??

I only had two T12 fixtures in my garage on one side and the light was terrible. I purchased four of these and the light is tremendously better. I did a lighting calculator to get 70 lumens per sq ft and it said I needed 7 of these based on the bulbs I chose but 4 is already great! Great value for the price. I will update my review if they don't last.

All the parts were included and it fit right back into place where my old shop light was installed. The new T-8 lamps provide brilliant daylight for my tired eyes. Love my new purchase and wish I had replaced my old stoplight years ago.
