I'm sure you can but they are not meant to be ceiling mounted . Home Depot makes led pixie light fixtures that would be great for ceiling mount.

I recently picked one up and the wiring connectors are unfamiliar to me. Specifically there are 2 connectors (cable colors gray and purple) that would appear to be for a ballast, but none were in the box. A photo is attached (I can tell the black/white connector is for the line voltage). Lithonia's web site is not helpful at all. Thanks!

No ballast with this LED fixture. Just connect the ground wire to the installation plate, and than take beige plastic connector, strip back !/2 inch on white and black wires that come from your power source and shove them straight into the connector holes marked "black" and "white" until they click in all the way and you can't pull them out. Then click the beige connector together and you are done. Don't Read More

Then click the beige connector together and you are done. Don't mess with any of the other wires. It is so simple that it seems like you should be doing more, but that is it! The connectors that you are seeing just connect the ends of the LED strips to each other. Leave them alone. Read Less

Answer:
The purple and gray wires are if you’re using the fixture with a 0-10v dimmer. You would connect those wires to the purple and gray dimmer wires. If dimmer is not used, just fold the wires back into the fixture. Thanks for your question.

Yes. I am a 66 year old female and I did it by myself. I would suggest that after you shut down the power to the fluorescent light fixture, remove the bulbs, the lens cover, and the metal covering over the ballast. Then you can cut the wires and pull out the ballast(s). This reduces much of the weight of the old fixture and makes it easier to get down, particularly if you are on a ladder. Answer:
I would not call this an easy install, because the item is 2x4 and weighs around 20 lbs or more, over your head. It depends on your skill level and the type of installation you are performing. I had to have my wife help me hold it up.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Bmalik Very nice light for cost, installed in accounting office, staff like the units due to the fact they do not flicker as flourescent bulbs do. Will wait and see if they last as long as claims state. June 8, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good product, works well, bright This troffer fit right into the space where I took out an old fluorescent fixture. Connect a couple of wires with wire nuts and slip it into place. Seems like decent quality and gives off a plenty of light. About a 1 second delay to turn on... not an issue except the first time you do it to see if you have successfully installed it and you are about to curse because you think you messed up. When it does come on after a second, it is instantly bright. July 21, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Produces great light. This light fixture is truly the answer to drop-in grid lighting. Given the limitations of overhead illumination of a space with grids and drop-in ceiling tiles, this fixture is far superior to any and all fluorescent lights. It is easy to install and does a great job of lighting up a shop, a basement, a laundry room, or even a kitchen. The only downside is that it is not readily available in most of the retail stores. No stores in NYS carry this fixture, so I had to order it online, which involved waiting for the shipment to come in. December 15, 2015

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Impressive product Replaced a traditional fluorescent fixture with this LED troffer. It was light-weight and fit right into the existing space. Wiring was easy and I never again have to change the tubes in this one. A very nice upgrade! January 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent light I installed 4 of these lights in my basement a year ago. I was nervous installing LED units because if the LEDs fail the entire unit must be replaced. After 1 year, we have had no issues. The lights look great in our basement remodel and provide excellent lighting. I highly recommend this light! December 27, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by You get what you pay for All lights came with cracks or breaks in the lens, otherwise lights work great. Used lenses from the old fixtures to replace the ones that were broken, so I did not send the product back, but was very disappointed in the condition of the lights. December 8, 2015
