Answer:
Paul;
That was a challenge for me.
I pulled the trim & separated that from the bulb.
Holding the socket base & turning bulb to left about a quarter turn seemed to work.
It didn't come easy, but once done it seems to release easier when repeated.
Just need to get "the touch" I guess.

Answer:
The face has to be pulled off with some muscle as there are three spring loaded clips holding it in place. You then pull the bulb out of the face and twist disconnect the bulb from the wiring. Reinstall with new bulb by twisting bulb into base making sure to wipe finger oil off the bulb. Press fit face back into base. Do this with the lights off because the bulbs get very hot, very fast.

To replace the bulb in this fixture you will first, have to pull the trim down out of the ceiling. It will probably be easiest to remove the bulb from the socket first by turning the base of the bulb ¼ turn left and pull free from the key hole slots in the socket.
Now you should have the trim completely free from the can and the light bulb still in the back of the trim. You will see the spring clip Read More

I would like to use this in a niche, but it will be about 1/2" from the wall. Is there the same fire hazard by being so close to the drywall as is mentioned with the insulation?

Answer:
You can place this next to the wall as long as its not covered in any insulation and has adequate air ventilation, as the GU10 lamp can get hot. Another option would be to go with an LED GU10 base bulb.

The kit comes with a stencil to trace the cutout lines for the housing hole in the ceiling. The cutout should be 3-1/8". Thanks for your question.

Answer:
Please check specification for the specific fixture. From my past purchase it was 3 1/8". I recommend to use hole saw so the cut is accurate and there is no movement of the housing.

Answer:
In order to answer your question, we will need some more information. Is the room 100 sq ft? Or 100ft long? We will need to know the L x W dimensions of the room in addition to the height of your ceilings.
Thank you!

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 18 reviewers.
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by A beautiful pain in the rump I installed 25 of these in my home when I moved in. The lights were fairly easy to install, but when installed looked beautiful. However, after 8 months, the bulbs started failing which is problematic when they are installed in high ceilings. Removal and replacement of the bulbs in the fixture is anything but easy and kinda tricky on a high ladder suspended over stairs. Taking the fixture apart requires some muscle and feels like you are going to rip it out of the roof. The bulbs decently priced, but LED availability is none existent (if you are trying to get more than 8 months out of the bulbs). Then there is the heat... June 9, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Product is OK for the price but I needed to exchange 2 fixtures Purchased 5 fixtures, 2 were defective but local Home Depot refund the money and the fixture were available in the store even the website said internet exclusive. The same fixtures in the store are less expensive with no special discounts (unlike website teaser) - very disappointing and misleading. I will go and claim the difference. One issue with the fixture I have noticed which is a bit disappointing - the fixture housing isn't holding very well in the ceiling and when installing the trim it moves a bit and the trim isn't tight to the ceiling surface. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Probably the easiest installation I was impressed (after installation) of the unique way in which this fixture was designed. I especially enjoyed paying for something that was priced correctly. In fact I have another install coming up which I plan to incorporate the use of at least three more of these units. Now, if you can just improve on cost of other units you might sell a few more, heh ? August 22, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice product! Love it. Works perfect! Shiped on time, gives my bathroom modern look October 6, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent for what it's designed for. I am an electrician and have installed literally hundreds of these. Heres some tips, when buying them as an "old work" install, in your pre-existing drywall, buy yourself a 3 1/8" diameter hole saw if you are using more than 1 or 2, this will be much more accurate and stops the problems of (which has been complained about in other reviews) to much space around edges of light. For new installations, but the pan and bar kits, about 3 dollars each, making this about a 20 dollar total setup. The light is amazing for the price, between 12 and 20 dollars for a very modern, classy looking 3" can light. You can also easily purchase gu10 led bulbs to put in these and still ends up being cheaper than a dedicated LED fixture. September 22, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great little 3" spot light I got 8 of these for accent lighting in my basement and they look great. I did have a contractor install it, but he said it was quite easy and straightforward to do. Upon installation with a dimmer switch, I swapped out the halogens with a dimmable 4W LED bulb from amazon and they work great as well. February 11, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice directional lighting at a great price I've installed the housing but not yet attached the lamps. I tested them, however, mid-installment and found them to provide adjustable and dim-able lighting that meets all my needs. All for a very affordable price! February 11, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Cheap, not just inexpensive This product is designed to be a low cost version of better engineered products. I purchased 12 units. The first one I started to install did not work. The second unit did not work. At that point, I returned all 12 and opted for Halo housings and trims. These units cost almost nothing - and that is what they are worth. September 6, 2011
