We installed this in our laundry room 3 years ago and it works well for that space. The "instant on" of the light intensity is a plus and it illuminates the 8'x16' room well. Installation was simple and straight forward. Like others have stated, the primary problem with this fixture is removing the plastic cover to replace bulbs - it's just a bad design but with care you can avoid any cracking. In the end, we're very happy with this and the crown molding appearance blends well with our cabinetry choice.

Light went out, so I replaced the bulbs from Home Depot that cost nearly $20 four bulbs. Turns out that it was not the bulbs, it was the ballast. If the bulbs cost $20, imagine what a ballast cost and how difficult it will be to find one!!! Do not buy this light it only lasted one year and on the bulb package the bulbs are supposed to last up to eight years for longer than this light fixture!!!!

Ballast toasted after less than a year. It looks pretty good, but after previous comments I will not replace with the same.

Our builder upgraded our standard builder light to this one. Although it looks ok, it's nearly impossible to change the bulbs. You have to remove the entire, heavy frame. It swings down quickly and the cover isn't secured inside the frame. The cover fell to the floor where it broke. I can't find a replacement cover either. I am going to have to purchase an entirely new fixture. Am not happy about this AT ALL. Do not recommend to anyone.

We have used this product for many years and I had previously installed two of them on our kitchen ceiling. They do take a thinner neon bulb than most lighting fixtures. We had one light go completely out and I replaced all 4 bulbs with no result. I then tested the electric wire to the fixture and it was fine. Obviously the ballast in the fixture was toast. I was not confident enough to buy a replacement ballast and try to rewire the fixture myself so I decided to buy a new one. I couldn't find that model in the Home Depot store at Hanley and HWY 40/64 in St. Louis, MO. Gary (what a great help he was!) in the electrical department at the store contacted Lithonia directly and they told him they did not make the model with the bronze ends anymore but that they did made an identical model with white cap ends and then gave him the number of the product on Home Depot's online site. Since I had the old bronze ends, I simply ordered the model on Home Depot's website. It arrived promptly, installed easily (took about 1 to 1 1/2 hours to install) and I simply put on my old cover with the bronze ends. Worked like a dream and matches my other light perfectly. It gives plenty of light and works beautifully in our kitchen.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by farmerferg Light bulbs last longer than the light!
My first one of these lasted about 6 months before it failed (suspect the ballast went out). I liked the look of the light, so I got another one. Now after about 10 months it has done the same thing (flicker for a while, then finally went kaput.) New bulbs did not make a difference, still in the dark. Do not recommend!

LOVE THIS! Saw it on a clearance shelf and decided to take a chance. Kept my fingers crossed as my husband was on the ladder for just under 30 minutes installing it. IT WORKED! Directions were clear, pictures included, all parts & pieces included and packaging was quality. Since the T12 larger flourecent bulbs are being phased out for the T8s which are supposed to be more energy efficient, the look is less bulky and definately more sleek. This product included several extras that traditional and less expensive products have such has crown molding type end caps, nice looking finishing caps vs. traditional screws & bolts and even light shields to keep the light from slipping out from the cracks/spaces. I would imagine that changing the bulbs could be cumbersome ... with the life of these bulbs I can't imagine we would be dismantling the light too often. This is a BEAUTIFUL product and we will now return to Home Depot and purchase 2 others (at regular price) so our garage has 3 matching lights!

Poor design to replace bulbs - you have to bend the plastic cover to remove which can and does crack. Once the cover cracks and breaks, you can not get a replacement. You have to purchase a new light assembly, Ridiculous!!!
