Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by SouthTexasRancher Best shop lights I have installed so far.
My work shop is 50x60 with 16 foot walls. I had installed high output t-8s on one side of the shop and they put out good light. A friend recommended the t-5 and I installed those on the the other side. The t-5s have a much better light out put for larger shops. I am going back today to buy more of the high output t-5s to replace my new t-8. Make sure you get the lights with a reflector. Huge difference for my tired eyes. Yes I would recommend these to my friends. I am glad my friend did so for me.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Warpdrive Good bright light , remember the extras.
Bought 2 of the 4 bulb fixtures for a new hig bay shop 16x 36 X 16h. The lighting looks about right and seem to do a good job.
The fixture does need more than what's in the box.
First you need 4 bulbs per unit at $10 each
Then there is no hanging chains included but you have to hang it to avoid over heating if you flush mount.
So be sure to get the hanging kit $4, they recommend 18" from the ceiling! Not practical unless you have an open ceiling with exposed frames or rafters. Mine had to be dry walled by the Twps. regs. So I just used the wire hangers on steel hooks. It's 4" from ceiling , should be decent cooling clearance.
There is no wiring/plug to connect to the power so whether you are hard wiring or plugging in you need to add that. I used the end of 2 new extension cords with nice molded on plugs. If my stuff was not in storage I could have used old wire and plugs off retired appliances or computers.
The wiring diagram looks a little tricky as it talks about setting up using only 2 or 3 bulbs? Fortunately it has a note on the fixture that it's pre wired for all 4 on, so hook up is easy. Remember to use a cord restraint as reqd. Pack of 10 another $5 .
If you did try to surface mount you would find it not set up for easy disassembly and mounting. Use the hangers. Also I found the upper and lower main metal sections had nothing holding then together and we're coming apart in the middle so I added a cable tie around the entire fixture in the center.( behind the reflector).
Before I hung the fixture I tested on the bench then left the cardboard packaging ends on to protect the bulb ends as I did not want to put the bulbs in 16' in the air. ( bulbs are only 5/8 dia and $10 each!)
Overall good fixtures but with all the extras and bulbs nearer $150 each. LEDs are a good bit more but closer than you think as price includes bulbs and hangers for LEDs.
Decided to go with new fixtures as without a lift, bulb replacement or repairs would be a real chore.

I bought this light because it is very bright and would illuminate my pool table very well. The light is perfect for this. I purchased the wood from HomeDepot and assembled a very nice looking light for my pool table.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by dday daylight at night
Bought 13 of these for a 30 by 80 shop low profile and super bright. in stock at home depot. i used the high output bulbs @ 10 a pop and it basically makes it daylight in there at night. easy to install for my application. as the trusses ar 4' apart. I mounted to the bottom of the metal trusses and have about 3' clearance overhead.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Hobbyist This light fixture with T5 tubes rocks!!!!
I have spent many thousands$$ at Home Depot over the last 25 years and this is my first review. I am so impressed with the light from this fixture, that I felt compelled to say so. I was originally planning to buy metal halide warehouse lights from an online supplier, but saw these on Home Depot site and saw many positive reviews. Still being skeptical, I went to my local Home Depot store and saw one illuminated...very bright...and I bought 2 fixtures to try them in my new 50'x75' metal shop. I'm going to buy 6 more and expect to need sun glasses when all 8 are on. I'd say 1 light is good for up to 20x20 area with plenty of light. I'm hanging these about 18' above the floor. There are 2 tabs with a hole on each end of the fixture. I bought 50' of 1/16" wire rope and a couple packs of aluminum wire rope crimp connectors. I made a bridle on each end and hung an 18" long wire rope from the building purlin on each end using self drilling screws and 3/8" flex conduit clamps. Like other reviews, I had to open the light fixture up to reattach the ballast that had come loose at some point. Also the access cover for the electrical connections has 2 knock-outs. I started to use one, but cover is too flimsy and was bending. So I used a knockout on top of the main fixture next to the wire cover...worked fine. Overall, these light fixtures are okay in appearance and quality is good for $90. T5 Bulbs are expensive individually so I bought a box of 15 for a significant savings. ~$85 for 15. Good Luck all.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Mike Awesome T5 lighting
These fixtures are 4 bulb T5 extremely bright and energy efficient to boot. I installed these in my building that is 40x64 with 14' ceilings I installed 8 of these and am very well pleased. I love that they can be switched to burn 2 or 4 bulbs. This feature should come in handy a lot.
These are not a flush mount. You have to hang them. But that was ok with me
Like you I read the reviews ppl had wrote before I bought
You will be very happy with these fixtures

Puts out a lot of light. My garage isn't really a high bay, but these lights still really do the job well. As the others have said, the wiring instructions leave a little to be desired. Colored wires and black ink pictures don't mix. But I still got it figured out. Google is your friend. The T-5 bulbs are sold separate, they go for about 10 bucks at HD. Nice bright white light, which is what I like in the garage. Can be wired for 120 to 240 volts. Another nice feature is being able to muti-switch the lights. Turning on 2 or 4.
