what kind of hardware is needed to install?

Asked by: Anonymous
You'll need two 3-inch toggle screws. You can use the old ones, but mine old ones were flatheads; why deal with them, when Phillips head toggle screws were $1 for a pack of three? Also, retain the two washers from the old fixture. You will need these, as well. To remove the punchout holes, I used a flathead screwdriver and a vise-grip to pull and twist them off. All in all: Old washers New toggle screws Flathead and Phillips head screwdriver Chair

I had to replace 5 ballasts within 6 months. Over the following years, I've replaced 50% of the ballasts. The warranty was useless because the labor to take the fixture down and return it to Home Depot was less than the ballast replacement. Now all the diffusers are brittle and breaking and replacement cost is more than the price of the fixture. Needless to say, they now look terrible and I have to replace them all. I will not replace them with Lithonia product. I lost $ on this job.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from DON'T break the diffuser I've had two of these lamps in kitchen last 5 years. Installed myself and agree with person who said the diffuser installation was poor. Anyway, I went to clean them today and the first one I took down snapped on the edge as it had become brittle from heat. You would think it shouldn't be a problem to get replacement but think again. I found the cheapest replacement at $90 on line plus shipping - total price a whopping $116 which is what I paid for the whole fixture at Home Depot, who by the way, doesn't seem to carry this replacement, but why should they when they sell the whole fixture for the same price. I even found one outfit offering the diffuser for $154, a $36 savings from the list retail price of $190. WillYum

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Thought I LOVED it I loved this light fixture I chose and installed by my contractor. Then my soninlaw had to help me take down the cover to clean and dropped it puttting it back up. My daughter paid for the replacement cover and fought with the clips to get it back on. Then my cleaning lady was helping me put the cover back on after washing and a clip broke off which dropped the cover. Needless to say, there are no clip replacements and we have tried alternatives. Now I will have to spend my social security money to buy another cover or replace the whole fixture with a different model. This is just China cheap engineering.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BRIGHT!!! Much brighter and lighter than my last fixture! No more hum, or delay starting! Took this novice 2 hours to replace my old fixture and install this one by myself. Ensure that you buy two 3-inch toggle screws, as the old ones will fall off in the ceiling after removal. Removing punch out holes took some difficulty, but no more than any other fixture would. Installing the diffuser was not harder than my old one. I don't know what others are talking about, but the thing looks great!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't buy The way this is designed, bugs and grease get caught on the inside of the diffuser. You have to regularly take of the diffuser and clean it. That's a pain enough as it is, and then after a year or two the thing gets brittle and it's impossible to remove it without it cracking. I'm shopping for a light to replace it as I type this review. Stay away from this piece of junk.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fixture - Easy to install I had absolutely no trouble installing this. Easy!! Common sense always helps when doing something like this. So I installed three screws at each end using the holes located at each end to ensure an even and secure install. I always look at "Reviews" because for certain products they are extremely useful. The negative reviews for this caused me to closely examine the product at the store. Saw no problem and bought it. For something like this you have to realize that many people are seriously mechanically challenged!! I had no problem at all with the diffuser - simply followed the directions.
